Madeira Beach

If you want to base yourself on the Gulf side of Pinellas County when visiting the St Petersburg area, then the small city of Madeira Beach might just be the ideal spot for you. When you're not visiting nearby St Petersburg on your Madeira Beach vacation, you can hit the local beaches and enjoy plenty of fun in the sun. Strolling along the 1,100-foot boardwalk is always a joy when visiting Mad Beach, as this coastal city is locally known, and you won't be at a loss when it comes to shopping and dining options. A Madeira Beach vacation can definitely be busy, though you can relax to your heart's content as well if that's what you have in mind.

Madeira Beach Florida is perhaps best known for John's Pass Village, which lies on an inlet on the city's southern edge. If you are interested in doing some shopping on your St Petersburg area vacation, then you won't want to miss John's Pass Village, which is home to an impressive collection of shops. A stroll along the John's Pass Boardwalk is sure to please, and when you need a break from walking and shopping, the restaurants that line the Boardwalk can make for ideal places to take a rest. Madeira Beach is hailed as the "Grouper Capital of the World," and you can bet that this tasty fish is on the menu at many of the local restaurants. Should you be a grouper fan, you might even look to plan your Madeira Beach vacation around the annual Grouper Fest, which takes place on the last weekend in October. This festival not only features more fresh grouper than you can eat, but it also offers arts and crafts exhibits and lots of live entertainment.

In addition to trying some fresh seafood at the local restaurants during your Madeira Beach vacation, you can also hunt for your own. Fishing is one of the top things to do in Madeira Beach, and when you're not out to sea on a fishing charter boat, you can cast your line off the local piers, bridges, and seawalls. Heading out to sea on a boat in Madeira Beach doesn't have to involve fishing. Dolphin watching cruises are popular in Mad Beach, and a sunset cruise is always ideal if you happen to be enjoying a romantic getaway.

At some point during your Madeira Beach vacation, the local beaches are bound to get your attention. Soft, white sand meets turquoise waters at the beaches in Madeira Beach, and the usually calm water conditions make for excellent swimming. When you're not swimming, or perhaps even trying some jet skiing, you can kick back on the sand and soak up the rays. The St Petersburg area boasts more than its fair share of sunny days, which is why it's such a fantastic area to escape to when fun in the sun is a main priority. While some of the beaches in Madeira Beach front the Intracoastal Waterway, others rest on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. Bicentennial Park offers one of the better Intracoastal Waterway beaches, while Archibald Beach Park is home to a very inviting Gulf of Mexico beach. Other beaches in Madeira Beach that front the Gulf of Mexico include County Park, South Beach, and Kitty Stuart Park.

Archibald Beach Park and County Park offer some of the more complete beaches in Madeira Beach, in that they feature restrooms and showers. Parking is available at all of the public beaches should you be driving in. If you want to stay close to one of the local beaches, included among the Madeira Beach hotels and vacation rentals are some great beachfront options. You're always close to the beach wherever you choose to stay in Madeira Beach, however, so you can hardly go wrong when it comes to location. You might even look to stay in one of the nearby beach communities, such as Redington Beach and Treasure Island.

Should you want to pamper yourself during your Madeira Beach vacation, a stay at the luxurious Madeira Bay Resort Spa & Marina is recommended. In addition to boasting an excellent spa, this upscale resort, which is a short walk from the sand, also offers guest units that are equipped with full kitchens and private laundry facilities. The Barefoot Beach Resort & Hotel is one of the other Madeira Beach hotels worth keeping in mind, though there are plenty more that deserve some consideration as well. Find your ideal place to stay in Madeira Beach today, and come see for yourself how rewarding a visit to this sunny coastal city can be.
