Tampa Riverwalk

The Riverwalk in Tampa Florida is a project that aims to enhance the downtown area along the Hillsborough River and into the Channelside district. The Riverwalk provides easy access to the downtown area to visitors and residents. Encompassing a 2.2-mile walkway, the Tampa Riverwalk is an outstanding example of the city's efforts to bring commerce to the area while providing park areas along the walk for everyone to enjoy.
The Riverwalk in Tampa Florida winds its way along the shoulders of the Hillsborough River, going along the waterfront and passing under 11 bridges along the way. The walkway provides a restful and relaxing place to sit and have lunch, and it's also a pleasant place for joggers and cyclists to get a good workout. The Tampa Riverwalk project includes the removal of old sidewalks and replacement of new bricks and construction of new buildings for to promote business along downtown Tampa's waterfront and the Channelside water district. One project that aims to provide things to do on Tampa Riverwalk features a newly designed modern structure to house the outstanding collections and exhibits from the Tampa Museum of Art. A second project involves moving the Glazer Children's Museum, currently located at Lowry Park Zoo, to its new and much larger location at the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, near downtown.
The segment of the Tampa Riverwalk running through Channelside provides a cool area with shopping and restaurants along the shady walk. Things to do on Tampa Riverwalk in this area include visiting the Cotanchobee/Fort Brooke Park and the Tampa Bay History Center, which has both permanent and rotating exhibits dedicated to the colorful history of Tampa.
A forty-by-ten foot mural depicting the Hillsborough River will be displayed at the southern gateway to the Riverwalk in Channelside. The montage will be a pictorial history of Tampa with photos printed in color on porcelain enamel steel plates.
The Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel and Marina is located along the Riverwalk providing visitors to Tampa and Ybor City luxury accommodations and easy access to the water and Riverwalk. A portion of the project dedicated to the University of South Florida features a park setting where visitors can sit and relax, and the nearby MacDill Park, dedicated to the military, which plays a large role in the community, sits along the Tampa Riverwalk next to the river.
The downtown area, which encompasses the Kennedy Boulevard Plaza area of the Riverwalk in Tampa Florida, includes the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel, the Kennedy Boulevard Bridge, and the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, which has views of the University of Tampa across the river. Downtown Tampa has much to entertain visitors, whether they're interested in shopping, restaurants, or museums.
The Tampa Convention Center and Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center also provide plenty of things to do on the Tampa Riverwalk. The Convention Center area is a large tree-lined section providing serene views of the Hillsborough River. Visitors to the Performing Arts center can enjoy a leisurely stroll beside the river before a performance or after dinner at the center's restaurants. Past the Performing Arts Center, the Tampa Bay Riverwalk continues to Water Works Park.
