Wanee Festival 2016 is one of the most popular music festivals in Florida, officially hosted by the Allman Brothers Band. The festival takes place at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park located in Live Oak in northern Florida west of Jacksonville and north of Gainesville. The event takes place in an outdoor venue in the spring with bands performing on two large stages. Headliners include the Allman Brothers and almost twenty other well-known acts that have included Buddy Guy, Jorma Kaukonen of Hot Tuna, and The Derek Trucks Band.

Wanee Music Festival Live Oak Florida presents a large range of bands playing music in an array of genres, including traditional rock, jam, folk, blues, and country. Over the years, the festival has featured dozens of bands that include a major crowd favorite Widespread Panic along with big names like Steve Miller Band and Robert Plant and the Band of Joy. Since this Florida festival was conceived by the Allman Brothers Band, the band’s members also play with their own bands including Government Mule headed by Warren Haynes and Dickey Betts and Great Southern headed by Dickey Betts.

Tickets to the Wanee Festival 2016 come in two distinct categories: General Admission Passes and VIP Passes. General Admission tickets to Wanee Festival include three days of nonstop music, four nights of camping on primitive grounds from Wednesday through Saturday, a Tuesday happy hour with live music and drinks, and the Wednesday Kick-Off Party that is now expanded in duration and events. VIP tickets include all of the above plus a private VIP private music area, merchandise, catered lunches and dinners from Thursday through Saturday, and VIP restrooms, and a VIP pre-party. Tickets are available in advance or at the gate for a higher price. Note that many festival-goers buy tickets in advance so tickets can be fairly limited if purchasing at the gate.
Directions to Wanee Festival
The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is located at 3076 95th Drive Live Oak, Florida. The park is set between Interstates 10 and 75. Heading in from the I-10 take the 283 Exit and continue northbound on US 129 for almost 5 miles. From I-75, take Exit 451 and go south about 4.5 miles. Watch for park signs and follow the final directions to the Wanee Festival.

Lodging near Wanee Festival 2016 is offered via camping on park grounds. Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park spans 700 acres and is only three miles from the Suwanee River. Ticket holders will find riding stables, a swimming pool, a restaurant, and canoe rental. There are also small cabins located on the grounds that have individual patios, towels, and linens, simple food prep areas, and cable TV. There are also separate RV accommodations with 800 individual sites complete with hook-ups, electricity, and water. Anyone preferring Florida hotels will appreciate Holiday Inn Express Live Oak and Best Western Suwannee River Inn.
