Lake Worth Florida

Lake Worth Florida is a city of about 35,000 residents that can be found bordering the larger city of West Palm Beach. It's only 60 miles south to Miami from Lake Worth, so you can bet that there's plenty for visitors to do in the area. Even if you don't leave town, the Lake Worth attractions can keep you more than busy. The city's 1,000-foot-long municipal beach tops the list of attractions, and the newly-opened pier is fast becoming a favorite as well. The Lake Worth Pier is an excellent place to do some fishing, not to mention take in the Atlantic Ocean views. In addition to an excellent stretch of beach, Lake Worth Florida also boasts an array of parks that give residents and visitors ample room to enjoy outdoor recreation. That's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to things to do in Lake Worth, and you'll find that the good year round weather encourages lots of time spent outdoors.

Open space abounds in Lake Worth Florida, which helps to make it a good Palm Beach County base for those who like the outdoors. The large municipal beach here is one of the last public spaces of its size to be found on the southeast Florida coast, and it's definitely a fun place to hang out. When you're not swimming or taking part in watersports such as parasailing and wind surfing at the beach, you can enjoy languid strolls on the Lake Worth Pier. This pier, which is one of the longest on Florida's east coast, was heavily damaged when Hurricane Frances passed through in 2004, but it has been rebuilt.

In addition to a fantastic municipal beach, the Lake Worth attractions also include a delightful municipal golf course. Golfing is easily one of the top things to do on a visit to Florida, and if you are looking to tee it up during your Lake Worth vacation, you're bound to enjoy the Lake Worth Municipal Golf Course. Stretching out to 6,120 yards, this course might not be the longest, but it offers a layout that should prove challenging, as well as enjoyable. More upscale courses can also be found in town, and they include the immaculate 18-hole course at the Lacuna Golf & Country Club. When you're not golfing or hanging out at a beach near Lake Worth, you can always play some tennis. Tennis courts abound in the area, so don't forget to bring your racket if you like to play.

While you can always do some shopping during your visit to Lake Worth Florida, sticking to outdoor recreational activities is what many visitors have in mind. If you prefer outdoor recreation to shopping, John Prince Park is an ideal place to go. Found on the west side of town, this park rests on the shores of Lake Osborne, and it boasts some great walking and biking trails. There are also attractive picnic areas at John Prince Park, and you can even camp here if you please. When you want to take a break from outdoor recreation, shopping and dining also figure among the top things to do in Lake Worth.

Lake Worth might be considered a suburb of West Palm Beach, and it does well to maintain its own feel. The downtown area is very laid back, and it is also home to some unique shops and restaurants. The restaurants dominate the scene, and they come in all forms. While some of the eateries here come in the form of cafes and coffee shops, others are full-service establishments that specialize in a range of world cuisines. As for the local nightlife, it isn't the liveliest in the area, but that doesn't mean that you can't head out for some fun after dark. Some of the local restaurants offer live music at night, and there are also some good bars to choose from.

When you're not enjoying the Lake Worth attractions, you can easily head to any other number of nearby destinations to see what they have to offer. The West Palm Beach area is home to some fine museums, such as the Norton Museum of Art, and there are miles of good beaches to consider. For families and animal enthusiasts, the Palm Beach Zoo and Lion Country Safari are great to visit. Serious shoppers might head to Boca Raton or Fort Lauderdale, while those who want to enjoy some top notch nightlife can always plan a side trip to Miami's South Beach.

You will find it hard to run out of things to do in Lake Worth, and you will also find numerous ways to fill your time in the surrounding area. There's something for everyone in Palm Beach County, and Lake Worth is an excellent place to base yourself when dropping by for a look. The Lake Worth hotels range from small resorts to motels and bed and breakfasts, so you should be able to find your ideal lodging fit.
