Atlanta Events

The state of Georgia is home to a number of great festivals. From harvest and heritage festivals to holidays and Memorial services, the people of Georgia like to come together whenever they can. If you are planning a trip to Georgia and want to find out more about Atlanta events, Georgia festivals, or just find a Georgia events calendar, the following list was compiled with you in mind.

Georgia Renaissance Festival

The Georgia Renaissance Festival happens every spring, from April until June, and celebrates medieval life with two full months of events. Located in Fairburn, Georgia, this is one of the most popular Georgia festivals. In particular, this is one of the best festivals in Georgia for families.

Oktoberfest

Like many other areas around the county, Georgia has its very own Oktoberfest. Celebrated in Helen, Georgia every October, Oktoberfest is one of the best festivals in Georgia for beer-lovers. Anyone with a love for Bavaria should be sure and mark this festival on their Georgia events calendar. The town of Helen remade its appearance in 1970, modeling storefronts and businesses to look like a town nestled somewhere in the Bavarian Alps. The town has since become a major tourist attraction and home to one of the most popular Georgia festivals.

Cherry Blossom Festival

The Cherry Blossom Festival happens each year in Atlanta toward the end of March, and has been a mainstay among Atlanta events for more than 20 years. In addition to being a prime time to see the beautiful cherry and other fruit tree blossoms of Georgia, the weekend festival is celebrated with international music, dance, games, food and crafts. This is one of the most popular events in Atlanta for families.

Tree Lighting Ceremony

Each December, the city of Atlanta holds a lovely event in the heart of the city centered on lighting an enormous holiday tree. This is one of the most beloved events in Atlanta. This is also one of the best Atlanta events to couple with a shopping trip, as the ceremony is held downtown.

Atlanta Campaign Civil War Re-enactment

This is perhaps one of the only events in Atlanta that draws travelers for no other reason than to attend this activity. A mainstay on many Georgia event calendars, the war re-enactment is open to the public for a fee, and happens each November.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Every March the city of Atlanta has its own St. Patrick’s Day Parade. High school bands, vendors, and community organizations are all out in full force to entertain the city. One of the most popular festivals in Georgia, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade is free to the public.
