Hawaii Bed and Breakfasts

Whether you're enjoying a romantic getaway in the Aloha State or you just want a break from the larger hotels and resorts, the more intimate Hawaii bed and breakfasts are always a good lodging option. Finding a good Hawaii B&B on most of the main islands is relatively easy, and you might start by looking in some of the top destinations. On the island of Oahu, for example, starting your search in the Honolulu area is a good way to go. When trying to find your ideal Hawaii B&B, it's important to note that there is a Hawaii state code that bans the serving of home-cooked meals to travelers. As such, the bed and breakfast inns without proper licenses only serve what are akin to continental breakfasts. Often times, your continental breakfast supplies will be delivered to your room the night before, in which case you can store them in the refrigerator and enjoy them the following morning.

Oahu Bed and Breakfasts

While some Oahu visitors might prefer the larger hotels on the island, others will be looking for a more quaint and intimate lodging experience. That's where the Oahu bed and breakfasts come in. Intimate is a word that can be used to describe most any bed and breakfast in Hawaii, as the majority of them have less than five rooms. What this usually translates to is an elevated level of service, as your bread and breakfast hosts will have fewer guests to worry about.

Some of the best Oahu Hawaii bed and breakfasts can be found in or around the island's top destinations. These destinations include Waikiki, Hanauma Bay, Kailua, and the North Shore. Depending on what you have in mind for your Oahu vacation, a bed and breakfast hotel in one of these areas is bound to fit the bill. Speaking of bills, you can expect your bed and breakfast in Hawaii to feature rates that are competitive with the area hotels and resorts. More often than not, the Hawaii B&B rates are among the lowest around, which only helps to make them more attractive.

Maui Bed and Breakfasts

As is true with most of the Hawaii bed and breakfasts, those that are found on the island of Maui are popular among honeymooners and other couples who have romantic escapes to paradise in mind. The Maui bed and breakfasts can be charming boutique inns, private homes with rooms for rents, or even historic properties. A stay in a more historic Hawaii B&B is an excellent way to go for those who are interested in Hawaii history. The Old Wailuku Inn is one of the more historic Maui bed and breakfasts, and you might turn to it first if you want to enjoy a historical lodging experience. Some of the best Maui bed and breakfasts will have you close to the ocean, and as is common at many Hawaii bed and breakfasts that are near the water, guests will often be treated to complimentary beach gear. Lahaina is a good place to start if you are interested in staying at an inn that offers proximity to the sea.

Big Island Bed and Breakfasts

When you choose to stay at one of the Big Island bed and breakfasts, you are bound to enjoy more personalized service than you will at larger lodging establishments like the Kona Coast Resort and the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa. Even upscale Big Island resorts like the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, which specializes in offering good service, will find it hard to compete with the service at the bed and breakfast inns. Find a good B&B on the Big Island, and your host will likely be available virtually around the clock to help you find things to do and places to visit.

The Kona area is where many Big Island visitors choose to look for bed and breakfast inns. For those who have a visit to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in mind, however, staying at one of the Big Island B&Bs that is closer to the park boundaries is arguably a better way to go. Perhaps you'll stay at a Kona area B&B for a few nights, then head east towards the island's most renowned national park to find another inviting inn.

Kauai Bed and Breakfasts

Kauai is definitely one of the islands in Hawaii that you will do well to visit, especially if you're up for a little adventure and time spent on some of the best Hawaii beaches. Poipu Beach is one of the most renowned beaches on the island, and there are quite a few Kauai bed and breakfasts that offer proximity to this inviting stretch of sand. While the areas in and around the top Kauai beaches are popular places to look for bed and breakfast inns, so too is the area in and around the stunning Waimea Canyon. The Waimea Canyon area not only boasts what Mark Twain dubbed as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific," but also some good area beaches that you can relax on when you're not hiking, enjoying scenic drives, or any other number of fun activities.

Lanai Bed and Breakfasts

Lanai isn't a large island, and as such, there aren't a ton of lodging options here. For those who haven't already booked their stay at one of the two Lanai resorts, considering the island's lone bed and breakfast is always a good idea. The Dreams Come True bed and breakfast in Hawaii can be found in Lanai City, and it offers four attractive rooms for guests to choose from. A charming plantation house, Dreams Come True can make for an excellent vacation rental if you are interested in renting the whole place out. Lovely antiques can be found in the home and surrounding the estate are avocado, banana, and papaya trees.
