Kapaa Hawaii

Kapaa is a terrific place to base yourself when visiting the Hawaiian island of Kauai, as its location on the island's east coast offers proximity not only to great beaches but to other interesting Kapaa destinations as well. Wailua is located to the south of Kapaa Hawaii, for example, and this touristy area is a great place to dine, shop, and enjoy relaxing walks along Wailua Beach. Lihue, which is less than 20 miles away, is home to the Kauai Museum, as well as the island's main airport and shopping centers. You won't have to leave Kapaa to do some shopping, however, as the town is home to the Kauai Village Shopping Center, which has plenty of stores and restaurants. About a mile from town, the Coconut Marketplace offers more shops and restaurants to choose from, as well as a cinema complex.

You won't want to spend too much time shopping on Kapaa vacations, as there is an array of attractions and other activities that deserve your time. Most if not all visitors to the island of Kauai plan on spending a lot of time on the beach, and there are lovely ones in and around Kapaa Hawaii. The small beach at the Kapaa Beach Park is popular with locals, and kite surfing is among the favorite activities that can be enjoyed here. Snorkeling is another thing entertaining thing to do at the Kapaa Beach Park, at least when the currents aren't strong. Ample facilities, including bathrooms and beach equipment concessions, can be found at Kapaa Beach Park, and even if you don't swim or kite surf here, it's a great place to take in the ocean views. Waipouli Beach is one of the easiest beaches to access in Kapaa Hawaii, and the paved trail that runs along it is ideal for walking or jogging. Because of its strong currents, Waipouli Beach isn't the best location for swimming. Typically, better swimming conditions can be found just north of Waipouli Beach on Baby Beach and Fuji Beach.

Many of the beaches that can be found on Kauai have currents that can be tricky. It's no different in and around Kapaa, so exercising a certain amount of care when entering the ocean on Kapaa vacations is always a good idea. Kealia Beach, one of the top attractions in Kapaa, often features fair swimming conditions, and it's a good place to enjoy surfing or boogie boarding as well. Kealia Beach is devoid of lifeguards, facilities, and virtually everything else, save for soft golden sand, so it's an excellent place to unwind. When you're not relaxing at the beach in Kapaa, you might also consider biking and horseback riding. The dirt road that links Kealia Beach to the nearby town of Anohola is an ideal biking track. As for horseback riding, the region offers some enticing trails to explore, and excursions are easy to arrange.

Sightseeing is among the options for things to do in Kapaa, and if you have a rental car, driving up the coast on Route 56 will reward you with amazing coastal views. Unless you've already booked a Kauai movie tour, which highlights famed filming sites, then you might drive as far north as Moloaa Bay, where scenes from the television show Gilligan's Island were shot. Hiking is also a great way to see the sights, and working your way to the top of Sleeping Giant Mountain is one of the top things to do in Kapaa for hiking enthusiasts. Sleeping Giant Mountain, or Nounou as it is also known, overlooks the town, so you can hardly miss it. The list of things to do in Kapaa also includes taking advantage of some of the attractions in other towns and villages, such as Wailua or Princeville. Golfers won't want to pass on the chance to enjoy a round at the Wailua Golf Course, a regional favorite, and the Prince and Makai Golf Courses in Princeville will prove equally unforgettable.

There is a variety of things for visitors to enjoy on Kapaa vacations, and if you have the time, you'll want to view some of the area waterfalls, such as Opaekaa Falls and the more well-known Wailua Falls. With so many fun things to see and do on Kapaa vacations, getting bored won't be an option, so book a stay at one of the Kapaa hotels today, and treat yourself to a Hawaiian getaway that is sure to please.
