The Garden Isle is the perfect name for the idyllic island of Kauai. The fourth and oldest of the main series of islands, Oahu, Maui and Big Island, things to do in Kauai encompass an agenda for young and old, both adventurous and laid back. The lack of sweeping urban centers, high rises, enormous shopping malls and major residential developments allows Kauai to stay untamed and free of growth that might eventually eat up the lush countryside and jungle rainforest. The biggest Kauai attractions remain gifts from Mother nature rather then man made intrusions.

Wailua Falls

The route along the Wailua River leads to the famous and spectacular Wailua Falls. Things to do in Kauai in this area include hiking, kayaking up river and exploring the cave and the verdant Fern Grotto, one of the most lush of all Kauai tourist attractions.

Poipu Beach Park

Poipu Beach and the surrounding area is one of the best Kauai attractions when it comes to beaches. Dramatic lava cliffs, excellent beaches for surfing and boogie boarding, great restaurants, soft, buttery sand and sea turtles galore make Poipu a favorite.

Kauai Golf Courses

Devoted golfers have an insatiable appetite for trying new courses. Though Kauai golf courses are limited in number, they more than make up for it through some of the best designs in the world. Golf is the most enticing of all the things to do in Kauai for golfers. Course architects have created some of the most beautiful and challenging courses brimming with unique features.

Tunnels Beach

Kauai activities reign at this out-of-the-way and crowd-free Kauai beach. Sea life in the area is teeming with colorful schools of fish and moray eels encompassed in a protected reef perfect for snorkeling. The golden stretch of sand is flanked by tall palms creating the perfect backdrop for a family outing.

Napali Coast

No matter how you tour the Napali Coast, by helicopter, catamaran, kayak, zodiak or dive sites, the sheer, undeniable beauty of the coastline is number one in Kauai attractions. The state park is home to breathtakingly scenic and historic walking trails, scenic drives, Kauai beaches and more. Napali is a genuine wonder and the most spellbinding of all Kauai tourist attractions.

Koke’e State Park

One of the best Kauai activities is hiking the myriad of trails at Koke’e State Park. More then 4,000 acres of jaw-dropping scenery greets hikers along 45 miles of impressive and vivid trails.

The area is replete with mountain streams, ocean views and panoramic vistas of Nu'alolo Valley.

Waimea Canyon

Waimea Canyon is one of the top Kauai tourist attractions and is often referred to as the Grand Canyon of Kauai. Stretching ten miles wide and almost 4,000 feet deep a visit pays off with sweeping views of rugged terrain, rushing waterfalls and plunging rock faces. Hiking around the canyon is one of the top Kauai activities.

Kauai Luaus

A genuine cultural experience is afforded for visitors when they attend one of the traditional Kauai Luaus, standard for locals yet an exotic experience for visitors. Singing, laughing and plenty of food are the main Kauai attractions along with customary Hawaii hula dance. Each luau, both commercial and private, has its own unique tone and Kauai activities.

Kalapaki Beach

Things to do in Kauai should include a visit to Kalapaki Beach. The half-moon shaped, golden sand beach unfolds out into Nawilwili Bay and the Hoary Head Mountains creating a spectacular background where a scene from Indian Jones was filmed. Catamaran cruises, sailing, boogie boarding and more are all popular things to do in Kauai at Kalapaki. Make sure to get off the beach and explore the area further for many great surprises.

Kauai Diving

To experience every aspect of Kauai’s magnificent geological design and varying terrain take to the sea on a diving adventure and visit some of the best dive sites around the island. Reef sharks, octopus’, kaleidoscopic schools of fish. Moray eels and more all teem underneath the ocean’ surface.
