Haleakala Hiking
Haleakala National Park hiking is one of the most popular things to do in the entire nature preserve. This amazing collection of landscapes, centered around a volcano also called Haleakala, is an intriguing place to explore. Whether you're winding your way up the summit of a dormant volcano, following a short nature trail, or something in between, Haleakala hiking is a fantastic way to experience native Hawaii.

This beautiful landscape is truly a slice of paradise; it is a land of plunging waterfalls, lovely little streams, and ocean coastlines that is waiting to be discovered. People of all fitness levels can enjoy Haleakala National Park hiking; the trails vary in intensity from easy interpretive nature trails that take a few minutes to explore to genuinely backcountry trails. Some hikers stop into the visitor center and spend a half hour at the park, while others spend several days exploring Haleakala National Park. Both kinds of people will have the opportunity to see native wildlife and tropical plants when they do some Haleakala hiking. A hike along the coast of Kipahulu is one of the most scenic places in the entire park. During a half-day's hike, you'll have the chance to see some amazing waterfalls and a bamboo forest.

With so much to discover, it may seem difficult to know where to start. Park rangers, who know the lay of the land better than anyone else, lead guided Haleakala hiking adventures that help you get a better an understanding of this unique landscape. Hikes at the summit of the volcano crater are held daily. The calendar of events also includes semi-weekly hikes to some of the lesser-visited landscapes at the park. If you have any questions about the Haleakala National Park hiking trails, the park rangers who staff the visitor center will be happy to answer any questions. You also can reserve campsites and cabins here and get a briefing that will fill in what you need to know for overnight hiking adventures. Local outfitters also lead hiking tours of this natural wonder.
