Hyatt Regency Maui

The Hyatt Regency Maui consists of about 40 acres of prime oceanfront real estate on Kaanapali Beach, one of Maui’s glitzier areas. The vast and splendid hotel features a staggering total of 806 tastefully designed guest rooms. The Maui Hyatt Regency also boasts 18 stores, along with convention and meeting rooms. Designed with large companies in mind, these business areas are organized into three connecting towers—the nine-story Atrium Tower, the seven-story Lahaina Tower, and the eight-story Napili Tower. As a result, the Hyatt Maui Regency Luau is popular with vacationers, business travelers, and those in town looking to mix the two together.

The Maui Hyatt offers tennis courts, a pool measuring more than half an acre in size, numerous waterfalls, and tropical streams among its beautifully cultivated gardens, several restaurants, bars and lounges, a luau area designed to enchant you with an exquisite dining experience, and an outdoor theater that offers dinner service. Clearly, this is the type of place that many people simply dream of, and it’s probably worth taking an hour out of your schedule on arrival just to walk around and gaze at the hotel. Few visitors leave here under any impression other than that the Hyatt Maui Regency is one of the finest accommodations in Hawaii.

Aside from the heady mix of facilities, there’s also a stunning array of wildlife that graces the Maui Hyatt Regency. This includes black and white swans, penguins, which have a home adjacent to the reception area, and flamingos. If you’re a beach person as well as an avid wildlife spotter, renting a cabana on the beach is a good way of combining relaxing sunbathing with exhilarating animal-spotting. Another way to relax at the Maui Hyatt is to stretch out on the many hammocks spread out across the hotel surroundings. There is also a gym and a spa, while a joggling path is on hand should you want to run a pleasant route from Kaanapali Beach to Black Rock.

For those who love to shop, you’re more likely to find bargains at nearby Whalers Village than the Maui Hyatt in-house shopping area, which is strictly for extravagant purchases. Whalers Village also provides some more-than-adequate dining options, should you wish to escape the confines of the hotel during your stay.

Some of the attractions near the Maui Hyatt Regency include the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, a gathering place where the people of Maui celebrate creativity, discovery and community; the Front Street (movie) Theaters, which is about three miles away; and the Village Gallery Contemporary, which is a little more than three miles from the Maui Hyatt. Also nearby are the Maui Ocean Center, about fifteen miles from the Hyatt Regency Maui, and the Lanai Community Center, which is located in Dole National Park. Other great attractions on the island include the Banyan Tree Park and the Wo Hing Temple. Using car rentals is often the best way of getting to these sights.

Since Kaapanali Beach is such an abiding favorite among visitors to Maui, the area is well-served by the Kapalua West Maui Airport, which is a mere ten minutes drive away, and airport shuttles are commonly available to the various Kaapanali hotels. The other Maui airport, at Kahului, is a little farther away, though at an hour’s drive, it’s still pretty convenient for guests staying at the Maui Hyatt.

All in all, the Hyatt Regency Maui is a memorable hotel, and those lucky enough to have stayed here tend to proclaim it a small slice of paradise on Kaanapali Beach. There are many headlining hotels in Maui, but this one may come top of the pile.
