Kaanapali Beach

Kaanapali Beach
Hookipa Beach | Kaanapali Beach

Along the west coast of Maui, Kaanapali Beach in Lahaina is one of the Maui attractions and true  hot spots of the island. Kaanapali is Maui’s equivalent to Waikiki Beach though it remains more tranquil, smaller and crowd-free. Clear, warm water, a sandy stretch of shoreline, public restrooms, showers and an abundance of shops and restaurants along the main strip make a Kaanapali vacation great for those looking to spend some time in one of Maui’s terrific beach areas.

The coast is lined by Maui resorts providing direct beach access for guests but there are also numerous public accesses available. Dividing Kahekili and Kaanapali Beach, Black Rock is one of the most popular Maui attractions along the beach. Once frequented by ancient Hawaiians who believed their spirits left the world from this special point, one of the last volcanic eruptions in Hawaii occurred at the site. These days locals and visitors use the point for diving into the deep, ocean water below.

There are several great accommodation choices for a Kaanapali vacation. Kaanapali Shores offers a number of things to do for all ages and includes Camp Kaanapali, a fun child’s program that operates throughout the year. Kaanapali Shores is a triple diamond, AAA Maui resort exhibiting studios, one and two bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens perfect for couples and families. Air conditioning, daily maid service, private lanais, private laundry facilities and complimentary wireless internet are all in-room resort features.

Guests of the Kaanapali Shores resort will have easy access to ocean sports, two large freshwater pools, dual jet spas, a sauna and a pool side bar. The onsite restaurant provides a diverse menu and championship Maui golfing is nearby. Visitors will also find great options for shopping and many nearby attractions to explore during a Kaanapali vacation. There are also three tennis courts, a fitness club and an outdoor barbeque area. The resort’s Wedding Gazebo is available for Maui weddings with a wedding coordinator on site for your important day.

When visiting Maui Kaanapali villas are another great lodging option to consider. There are several private villas that can be rented through a travel agent or from private owners. Maui Kaanapali Villas in Lahaina are nestled on eleven spectacular acres brimming with exotic gardens and situated on an unspoiled stretch of golden sand. Iao Valley State Park is only a half hour drive and excellent for a leisurely afternoon of Maui hiking. Guests can choose from a number of activities like snorkeling, sailing, surfing and many other fun sports.

Three swimming pools provide plenty of space for guests without feeling crowded. After a long day, professionals at the onsite day spa will ease any aggravating tensions. Maui tours can easily be arranged at the tour desk while beach services provide a shoreline advantage. The Maui Kaanapali Villas offer guests world class amenities such as air conditioning, satellite TV, DVD player, coffee makers, a kitchenette and more in rooms with colorful Hawaiian adornments.

Other local attractions near Kaanapali Beach include Whalers Village featuring an incredible, 40-foot whale skeleton in the museum. The Old Lahaina Luau or the sunset luaus at Black Rock are both excellent Maui Luaus in the area for those looking for classic Hawaiian entertainment. Head to the massive banyan tree on Front Street and enjoy a cold drink and some great people watching. Submarine tours, historic monuments, art galleries and numerous dinner theaters are accessible in this exciting area of Maui.
