Lahaina Hawaii is the hot spot on the island of Maui, second in popularity only to the many golden sandy Maui beaches. The historic town of Lahaina Maui is situated on the beautiful western shores and is the portal to the famous Kaanapali Beach and Kapalua resorts. Lahaina is the largest Maui town and faces the island of Lanai and western mountain range creating a spectacular scenic backdrop. Due to the town's major appeal there are also numerous Lahaina hotels available for visitors to choose from. The hotels offer a great base from which to further explore the many Maui attractions around the cultural center of Lahaina Town.

Front Street is the major artery running through Lahaina Maui and sees the most activity aside from the beaches. This main corridor dates back in history to the 1820's when it was established and continues to provide a number of things to do for tourists. Lahaina Hawaii has gained much deserved attention for its bright green valleys, streams of cool freshwater, bountiful volcanic soil, warm weather and pristine coastlines. Steeped with historical significance, Lahaina offers a blend of old and new for all ages to enjoy.

There are many fun activities in and around Lahaina Town. Experienced hikers that are interested in Maui hiking trails should head to the Ancient Lahaina Pali Trail. A complimentary guide is available from the  Department of Land and Natural Resources and explains the trail in depth. Climbing to more than 1,600 feet the arduous Lahaina Pali Trail is five miles long and meanders over arid landscape aloft the West Maui Mountains and connects Lahaina Town to Ma'alaea. Hikers are rewarded with stunning panoramas of the ocean and coast the trail.

Visitors looking for an excellent Maui Luau might be interested in the Old Lahaina Luau, a traditional feast and hula held on the beach along Front Street close to the Cannery Mall. One of the oldest and most authentic luaus on Maui, it happens seven evenings a week. The Hyatt Regency also offers an evening luau each evening. Dolphin's Gallery and Sargent's Fine Art Gallery are both terrific places to examine local jewelry, paintings, sculptures and mixed media art.

The Banyan Tree Park by the courthouse on Front Street is a major point of interest and a great spot to relax and take in the surrounding area. The more than 100-year-old banyan tree is massive, covering an area more than 200 square feet, rising up to 60 feet in height and comprising twelve trunks! Lahaina Hawaii and area have plenty of Maui tours for those looking for an adventure. Maui snorkeling tours are popular as are diving trips and sailing. There are many tours offering a variety of fun brunch, dinner and sunset cruises, some which include snorkeling stops.

There are a few interesting museums in Lahaina Maui including the Whalers Village Museum and the Wo Hing Temple Museum, both offering excellent artifacts and a wealth of history. Other points of interest include the Brick Palace containing remnants of King Kamahameha's residence from 1802, the old jailhouse of Hale Pa`ahao and Waiola Church with its 19th century burial grounds. Kaanapali Golf Course, The Bay at Kapalua Golf Resort and The Plantation at Kapalua Golf Resort are all great for Maui golfing adventures.

Visitors who want to stay and explore the many interesting landmarks and things to do in the region will find Lahaina hotels come in a large assortment and in many price ranges. Over many years Lahaina has developed into the most well equipped town in Maui where almost any amenity you might need is available and complete with a striking natural environment perfect for a relaxing island getaway.
