Maui Helicopter Tour

An aerial view of Maui reveals some of the most pristine areas found on the island and exhibits a view most people never get to enjoy. When you take to the skies with Maui tours offering stunning aeronautical journeys through a helicopter tour in Maui, you’ll experience breathtaking scenes of many Maui attractions. You’ll see stunning and lush green landscapes, commanding mountain views, and 360 degrees of mesmerizing blue ocean. The unique and picturesque excursion allows visitors to gain a whole new level of respect for Maui’s striking beauty.

Before Maui helicopter tours, visitors might want to consider some sightseeing in the area beforehand. Though it’s not necessary,  a deeper understanding of what you’ll witness on helicopter rides in Maui, once you’ve already traversed the topography, helps deepen  appreciation and understanding of the spectacular panoramic view from the sky. Most helicopter rides Maui tour operators offer in Maui are on the east and west coasts which are the most striking by air.

Visitors can choose certain areas or an entire island tour. On the eastern side a helicopter tour in Maui will fly over Haleakala, the 10,000 foot second-oldest volcano on the island. Along the highest elevation of the mountain the volcanic landscape is breathtaking with the moon-like cartography of the crater taking center stage. The mountainous slopes on the north and east sides are draped in lush, tropical rainforests, most which aren’t accessible during Maui hiking trips in the area. You’ll also see plunging, verdant valleys and remote areas unlike any other on Maui. On most Maui helicopter tours you might also be able to see the Seven Sacred Pools from above.

The most easterly tip of Maui comprises the town of Hana, located by driving the twisting and winding Hana Highway, a daring feat along the north shoreline taken on by brave visitors. Some liken the north shore of Maui to the northern Napali Coast on Kauai only slightly less striking yet beautiful in its own right. Maui helicopter tours fly over dense, rainforests blanketing the coastline, above remote Maui beaches, plenty of gushing waterfalls and jagged coastal bluffs.

On the west coast a helicopter tour in Maui reveals why the island has been dubbed The Valley Isle. Two of the older volcanos are found in the region along with the completely eroded remains of a vanished volcano that was once much bigger then the remaining two. Water erosion over millions of years sculpted the mountain into a chain of plummeting valleys creating razor-sharp edges that loop around the expanse of the west side. Tours also fly over Lahaina and the ever-popular Kaanapali Beach.

Here in these remote interior areas, helicopter rides Maui operators offer showcase some of the most awe-inspiring scenery on the island. Receiving the heaviest annual rainfall of the entire island in these areas, visitors will see hundreds of coursing waterfalls plunging downward along the valley edges, collapsing into tireless, isolated sparkling streams only seen by helicopter.

With a choice in helicopter rides Maui isn’t the only island you’ll have the opportunity to see. Tours offer several different trip combinations. A Maui-Big Island tour is popular as is a tour over Maui and the island of Molokai, found northwest of Maui and considered one of the best kept secrets of Hawaii. Visitors can opt for an entire island tour with choices including a fully narrated ride with a certified guide, the option to purchase a DVD of your flight and round-trip transportation if you prefer but it does cost extra.

Touring only one coastline can be several hundred dollars less than an entire island tour or a combination tour, with tours that include Big Island being the most expensive. The vast choices allow everyone to choose something that fits a certain budget. There are some great options for a helicopter tour in Maui with some tours enjoying fantastic reputations for excellent, professional and safe flights.

Morning and afternoon tours are most often the same price and most companies don’t charge more for a weekend journey. Custom charters are also available but for very steep rates. Enjoy a sojourn through the sky any day of the year except Christmas. The unusually beautiful natural landscape provides a journey visitors will remember forever and offer a unique way to view the otherwise hidden natural attractions found in the most secluded areas of the island.
