While Hawaii isn't exactly known as the world's premier destination for nightlife, it does offer visitors who like to go out on the town plenty of inviting nighttime entertainment options. For starters, there are the luaus, which are essentially themed dining parties that feature live entertainment and a lot of good food. Attending at least one luau during your Hawaii vacation is basically a must if you want to get a real grasp of Hawaii nightlife, not to mention culture. For those who like to dance, there are an ample amount of Hawaii clubs to choose from, and you won't want for a good bar in most destinations. Hawaii nightlife has something for everyone, and you'll want to keep the performing arts in mind if you enjoy things like theater shows, symphony orchestras, and operas.

Should enjoying some nightlife in Hawaii be high on your list of priorities, visiting the island of Oahu is recommended. It is on the island of Oahu where you will find the capital city of Honolulu and its renowned neighborhood of Waikiki. While spending time on Waikiki Beach is the top thing to do during the day in Honolulu, hitting the town and exploring the rich nightlife becomes the focus for many at night. Waikiki boasts a healthy nightclub scene that is a little more laid back than the nightclub scenes in most big cities. In addition to catching live bands at some of the Waikiki Hawaii clubs, you can also dance to the hits that talented DJs are spinning long into the night.

When you're up for something other than a night out at a dance club in Honolulu, the city boasts some of the best Hawaii bars, some of which are Jazz and Blues bars. Finding a live Hawaiian music performance won't be hard to come by in the capital city, especially if you add the bars and clubs to your list of potential music venues. Honolulu is not only the governmental and financial capital of Hawaii, but the nightlife capital as well, and you can definitely stay out until all hours if you please. As a side note, Paradise Cove is arguably the place to go if you want to enjoy a luau during your Oahu visit.

While the Big Island nightlife is more limited than the Oahu nightlife, you can still find some good Hawaii bars and clubs between the cities of Hilo and Kona. Kona is also a good place to find some good resort bars and clubs, as is the Kohala Coast, which is due north of the Kona Coast. Enjoying a good luau is possible on most of the Hawaiian islands, and it's no different on the Big Island. The Kohala Coast and Kona Coast resorts are the best places on the Big Island for luaus. Some that you might consider include the Hilton Waikoloa Village, the Kona Village Resort, and the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel.

Over on the island of Maui, the nightlife scene is also more subdued than it is on the island of Oahu, but that doesn't mean that there aren't options when it comes to enjoying a fun night out. If your idea of Maui Hawaii nightlife involves doing more than visiting a hotel or resort bar, you might enjoy a dinner cruise. Dinner cruises are popular in Hawaii, and in addition to some good food, many also offer themed parties, dancing, and plenty of music. When you find yourself looking for some good Maui clubs, Lahaina is arguably the top place to find them. You will also do well to explore the scenes at resort destinations like Kapalua and Kaanapali. If your want your Maui nightlife plans to include the performing arts, then the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului is worth keeping in mind.

As for the other main Hawaiian Islands, which include Kauai, Lanai, and Molokai, the nightlife isn't the most notable. That's not to say that you can't have a good time on these islands once the sun sets, however. It's just likely to be a little harder when it comes to finding a vibrant bar or club. When it comes to the Kauai nightlife, the Lanai nightlife, and the Molokai nightlife, hitting up the main resorts and hotels is arguably the best way to go, especially if you want to visit some bars and clubs in Hawaii. In Kauai, destinations like Hanalei, Princeville, Lihue, and Poipu are good places to start when it comes to finding some fun Hawaii bars, clubs, and live entertainment.

As for Lanai, the island's two resorts, which include the Lodge at Koele and the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay, offer the only regular nightlife options as far as bars and clubs are concerned. For the performing arts, try the Lanai Playhouse, which is a wonderful 150-seat venue. The island of Molokai also lacks notable Hawaii clubs and bars, but there are some nighttime entertainment options to consider. They include the Hotel Molokai, which is the island's premier all around nightlife spot, and the Paddler's Inn, which features things like live music and comedy shows. Should you be hanging out in Maunaloa during your Molokai vacation, the Lodge at Molokai Ranch boasts a lounge that is a good place to enjoy traditional Hawaiian music on the weekends.
