Makapuu
Beach Park on the Southeast coast, is a top winter spot
for experienced body surfers who can tackle waves of 12
feet or higher and dangerous currents. Don't look for
classic surfboards because they are prohibited. You can
see small boarders having a great time, however.
In the summer, when the calm waters are perfect for even
beginners, you can take advantage of life guards, picnic
tables, and parking. The beach offers a lovely setting
of plants and a background of cliffs.
