Waianae Hotels

The Waianae hotels are few in number, which makes booking your stay in advance a good idea. Many travelers on an Oahu vacation never make it to the island's west coast, which is why there are so few hotels in Waianae, but you'll do well to escape to this area if you're looking to get out of busier Honolulu for a while. While hanging out at Waikiki Beach and enjoying the other Honolulu attractions is a joy, it can be nice to escape to a quieter destination where you can truly unwind.

When looking for Waianae lodging, you can either depend on the hotels that are closer to town, or you can continue your search in nearby Makaha. The Makaha hotels, while also few in number, complement the limited Waianae lodging scene, as the two towns are barely a mile apart. The Makaha Surfside is just one of the Makaha hotels that can be grouped with the Waianae hotels, and it's an excellent place to stay when you want to enjoy a relaxing Oahu beach getaway. The guest units at the Makaha Surfside come in the form of one-bedroom condos, all of which offer ocean views. These clean and well-maintained guest units feature fully equipped kitchens and a home entertainment center that boasts a stereo, a TV, and a DVD player. Other amenities include a telephone, free high-speed internet, and complimentary beach gear, such as a snorkel, fins, and boogie boards. Snorkeling is a great activity here when the surf conditions are calm. Outside the rooms, guests can access a small beach cove, where swimming with sea turtles is often possible. You can also swim in one of the complex's two pools, both of which are heated saltwater pools. A state-of-the-art fitness center, a hot tub, and a barbecue are also among the overall amenities that guests can enjoy.

The Hawaiian Princess Hotel is another beachfront establishment you'll do well to consider when looking for hotels in Waianae. Visit the Hawaiian Princess in the winter months, and you'll be ideally situated for surfing the big waves. A timeshare resort, the Hawaiian Princess offers one-bedroom and two-bedroom condo units that are privately owned. Each of these units boasts a fully equipped kitchen, so you don't have to eat out at the local restaurants all the time, and you'll also have your own laundry facilities. Comfortable furnishings, a private patio or balcony, cable TV, a stereo, a telephone, and a hair dryer figure among the other amenities you'll find in your guest condo. If there's room in the budget, a condo with ocean views is the way to go, though the mountain and valley views in the other units are hardly a bad option. When you're not relaxing in your comfortable quarters at this laid-back Waianae lodging establishment, you can take advantage of the outdoor pool, hot tub, game room, barbecue areas, and tennis courts. For those who want to go scuba diving during their visit, excursions are easy to arrange.

If you're looking for truly unique Waianae accommodations, then the Pililaau Army Recreation Center might be the ideal fit for you. Like the other Waianae hotels, the Pililaau Army Recreation Center has a beachfront location, so you're never far from the sand. Should you book a stay here, your guest unit will be a cabin, which is equipped with everything you need to enjoy a pleasant stay. This includes air-conditioning, cable TV, ceiling fans, and a fully equipped kitchen. A DVD player, telephone, private sundeck, and barbecue grill are also at your disposal. One of the best things about the cabins here is the fact that they offer increased privacy. As such, families, those enjoying an Oahu wedding and honeymoon, or anyone else who might appreciate some solitude will certainly want to consider the Pililaau Army Recreation Center when looking for hotels in Waianae. While not luxurious, the 39 cabins here are well-outfitted and provide easy access to the area beaches. When you're not lounging around the resort grounds or sunning on the beach, you can enjoy a round of golf at the nearby Makaha Resort & Golf Club, head down to the Ko Olina Resort, or even hop in your rental car and enjoy a 45-minute drive to Honolulu, where plenty more attractions await.
