Idaho Whitewater Rafting

Idaho Whitewater Rafting

While the state of Idaho remains a great place for hiking, fly-fishing, golf and skiing, it is also an excellent place for fun on a raft. Whether floating slowly down a river in Boise or whitewater rafting down some of Idaho’s more challenging rapids, Idaho rafting and Idaho whitewater rafting are a great addition to any vacation in the summer.

The centrally located in Idaho is the town of Boise. Boise Idaho white water rafting is a great way to enjoy an activity with the entire family. Boise Idaho white water rafting can be enjoyed all summer long down the popular Boise River. This area enjoys warm, dry summers, and the warmest months of the year’s visitors and locals alike can be seen floating down the Boise River on their own raft, a rented raft, or taking a tour with a Boise Idaho white water rafting company.

For a more adventurous trip down a river near Boise, try Idaho rafting down the Payette. Located in the southwestern part of the state, Idaho rafting down the Payette can suit the needs of beginners in many places, as well as highly skilled rafters in others. While there are class 5 rapids in the Payette (the fastest moving water and only attempted by skilled rafters), these rapids are not usually part of a group rafting tour. Class 3 and 4, however, are part of most Idaho whitewater rafting trips for groups and offer a great way to experience the exhilaration of whitewater rafting in Idaho.

While Boise is a hotspot for rafting due to its convenient location, there are also other great places for Idaho whitewater rafting. Snake River in Hells Canyon is one popular spot, and in general this river is only attempted through whitewater rafting tour groups. Another beautiful spot for whitewater rafting in Idaho is the Salmon River. A place on the Salmon River known as Middle fork offers a lovely combination of rapids and lazy river to create some of the most scenic whitewater rafting in Idaho. The Salmon River is also a central location for waterfalls and some of Idaho’s most popular day hikes.

With all of these whitewater rafting locations, there is the possibility of booking a trip that lasts for three or more days rather than an afternoon. If you just can’t get enough of whitewater rafting, or want to combine your boating trip with a camping trip as well, it is possible to book a longer tour through rafting companies in Boise and throughout the state. Whitewater rafting is available in the state of Idaho throughout the summer months.
