Field Museum

For Illinois residents, the Chicago Field Museum offers discount days on which local visitors are given complimentary admission with the privileges of basic admission— current discount dates have not been announced.

Adler Planetarium

Discount days at the Adler Planetarium (pictured above) run through June 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12. On these days, locals are invited to enjoy free basic admission to the establishment.

Art Institute of Chicago

Every Thursday from 5-8pm, Illinois residents are granted free basic admission to the Art Institute of Chicago. Chicago residents receive a $5 discount for each admission while Illinois residents receive a $3 discount. Finally, free admission is extended to Bank of America/Merrill Lynch card holders for the first full weekend of the month for.

Chicago History Museum

Members and children are always invited with free admission to the Chicago History Museum. Illinois residents can look forward to free basic admission on July 4, select dates in August, as well as every M-Th in September. Free admission is extended to Bank of America/Merrill Lynch card holders.

Children’s Museum

The Chicago Children’s Museum offers a variety of discounts on admissions every year through a selection of programs, including the Parker Program, Play for All Events, Military and Civil Service discounts.  Additionally, the museum presents Target Free First Sundays, free admission to children aged 15 and under on the first Sunday of each month, and Kraft Free Family Night, free admission to all visitors on Thursday evenings from 5pm to 8pm.

Museum of Contemporary Art

On every Tuesday throughout the year, Illinois residents are tendered complimentary admission to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.  Members of the military, MCA members, and children 12 years and under may also enjoy free admission to the museum every day.

Museum of Science & Industry

On Illinois free days, residents are invited to experience the Museum of Science & Industry with free basic admission and discounted rates for additional exhibitions.  Usually these dates are among the early part of each month. Check their site for specific dates in 2022.

General Information

Dates for discount days are typically listed on the websites of each institution several weeks in advance, and as these dates may change on occasion, it is a wise choice to check frequently before your anticipated visit. Discounts throughout the year and for out-of-town visitors are available through other programs, such as memberships, the Go Chicago Card, CityPass, and other partnership programs through each establishment.
