Rock on the Fox

The Rock on the Fox Festival quickly became one of the most popular summertime time traditions in downtown Aurora, a Chicago suburb in the Fox River Valley and the second largest city in Illinois. Best known for its outlet shopping, Aurora is a modern city with a charming downtown and thriving arts scene.

Every summer, the downtown city core sets the stage for Downtown Alive! Festival Series, hosted by the City of Aurora Special Events office, and this series begins with Blues on the Fox in June. Rock on the Fox 2017 follows just after the Fourth of July Holiday, and the Fan Favorites events closes out the series at the end of July.

Rock on the Fox History and Facts

The first Rock on the Fox Festival in Aurora Illinois was in 1999, quickly becoming a highlight of the events lineup in town and one of the great festivals in Illinois. Held on Friday and Saturday, the festival packs two days with live music and so much more. Festival-goers also enjoy the Taste of Aurora, a sampling of some of the town's best restaurants and dishes as well cold beer and icy cold soft drinks. The first day of the festival features also features kids’ games followed by a Friday night cruise. The local Irish Pub is open for an after party on both nights.

Tickets to Rock on the Fox Festival

How's this for different? You don't need tickets to enjoy the Rock on the Fox Festival in Aurora Illinois. Even with nationally known acts, the festival does not charge an entry fee. All you have to do is show a state-issued ID if you're over the age of 18. Anyone younger needs a parent or guardian with them to visit the festival grounds.

Directions to the Rock on the Fox

The festival takes place in downtown Aurora between Lake Street (Route 31) and Broadway (Route 25). During Rock on the Fox 2017, parking is free in ally city lots, metered spots, and the Stolp Avenue Parking Deck.

From Chicago, take Interstate 88, the Reagan Memorial Highway to the Farnsworth exit in Aurora. Follow Farnsworth to Indian Trail and turn left onto Broadway until you find parking. If you're coming from the west on I-88, exit at Orchard Road or Route 47, continuing until Galena Blvd. From there, take a left and turn south. When you reach Lake Street/Route 31, turn right and head to downtown Aurora.

Lodging near Rock on the Fox

Several Illinois hotels are located within an easy drive of Rock on the Fox, including the Comfort Suites City Center. Located at 111 N. Broadway, the hotel is as close to the festival as you can get. The 82 spacious suites follow five floor plans, and all come standard with kitchens. Many feature a hot tub and fireplace. Guests also have access to free high-speed Internet connections and indoor pool.

If your budget is more suited to cheap hotels, you'll still have many choices of places to stay. The Super 8 at 4228 Longmeadow Drive, just off Route 34, is known for its great rates and friendly service. The hotel features an indoor heated pool and fitness room, along with guest laundry. Both breakfast and Internet access are included in the room rate.
