French Lick Casino

French Lick Casino visitors can enjoy some of the best Indiana gambling in the heart of one of the state's most enticing vacation destinations. Adding to the allure of the French Lick Casino Resort are the lodging options. You can opt to stay at the elegant French Lick Springs Hotel, which is where the casino is located, or book a room at the even more elegant West Baden Springs Hotel. Both hotels are attractive for a number of reasons and can make excellent bases for your next vacation.
At the French Lick Springs Hotel, visitors can enjoy some great gaming action at Indiana's first land-based casino. Most of the state's other casinos, such as the Belterra Casino and the Blue Chip Casino, are riverboat casinos. When the casino opened in 2006, it was surrounded by a small moat, thus falling in line with the state's gaming regulations. In 2008, however, the regulations were changed and the moat was filled in. What you will find today is a 51,000-square-foot gaming oasis that strives to offer a Las Vegas experience in the heart of the Midwest. Soaring ceilings and a beautiful glass dome add to the elegant Beaux Arts atmosphere, and you won't want for state-of-the-art slots. Table games include the traditional favorites of poker, craps, roulette, and blackjack. High-limit action takes place in its own area, and if you're particularly fond of poker, tournaments take place on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
The more than 1,300 slot machines and 41 table games at the French Lick Casino draw in visitors from all over the region. The French Lick Casino Resort is a relatively short drive from such regional cities as Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Chicago, though you might also consider a visit if you live further away. There is plenty to enjoy at this wonderful destination when you're not tempting Lady Luck. The lounge at the casino hosts live shows on select weekends, and you can always drop by for a rewarding dining experience. On the gaming floor, guests can dine on pizza, sandwiches, wraps, and a variety of deserts, and next to the casino floor is a trattoria that is known for its steaks. Rounding out the dining options is an elegant ballroom restaurant where guests can enjoy both a la carte selections and an ample buffet.
Whether you stay at the French Lick Springs Hotel or the nearby West Baden Springs Hotel, there will be many options for things to do when you're not spending time at the casino. Both hotels offer spas. You can also tee it up for a world-class round of golf on one of three different courses. Adjacent to the French Lick Springs Hotel is the 9-hole Valley Links Golf Course. The other courses are 18-hole courses—the Pete Dye Course at French Lick and the Donald Ross Course at French Lick. The former was designed by Pete Dye, and you might be interested to know that it was chosen to host the 2010 PGA Professionals National Championship. The other was designed by Donald Ross in 1917 and played host to the PGA Championship in 1924.
When you stay at the French Lick Springs Hotel or the West Baden Springs Hotel, other recreational pursuits that you can enjoy depending on the weather include hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Surrounding the French Lick Casino Resort are the lush environs of the Hoosier National Forest, which encourages hotel guests to venture outside for some fun. Regardless of your intentions, this resort can be a fine place to escape to. The historic opulence of the hotels is reason enough to consider a visit.
