Bed and Breakfast in Louisiana

Bed and Breakfast in Louisiana

Louisiana has taken great care to preserve its heritage and historical sites, so it’s no wonder you can find some of the best Bed and Breakfasts in this great state.  A nice Louisiana bed and breakfast can be found in all of the major cities as well as some of the smaller towns.  They may not have all the amenities of a big hotel, but the charm is worht the trade off for big ticket items like casinos and a spa.  If you stay in a bed and breakfast in the major cities like New Orleans, Batin Rouge or Shreveport, it won't matter because you will have nearby Casino resorts and local day spas to enjoy the big attractions while enjoying the history these old bed and breakfast hotels offer.

There are even some Louisiana Bed and Breakfast Inns in Plantation homes, a real treat for the traveler wishing to relive history.

New Orleans:

Elysian Fields Inn bed and breakfast is located five blocks from the French Quarter.  This Louisiana bed and breakfast is a 12 minute walk to the famous French Market and the action of Bourbon Street.  Built in the 1860’s you can find hardwood floors throughout, as well as marble bathrooms with Jacuzzi bathtubs.  You can even watch cable and DVDs from the library on a flat screen TV.

The Melrose Mansion Bed and Breakfast in Louisiana has been voted one of the most romantic Louisiana bed and breakfast Inns in the country.  A Victorian treasure, you can live in luxury and enjoy the history in rooms filled with period antiques and a southern breakfast served poolside.  Located close to the French Quarter, this is one bed and breakfast in Louisiana you will not soon forget.

Another spectacular home with unusual architecture, including some nice fireplaces is the HH Whitney house bed and breakfast.  Locates in the historic district, it is just eight short blocks to the French Quarter.  Enjoy a drink on the large porch or enjoy the outdoor hot tub, for a real treat ask for a room with a private balcony!

Baton Rouge:

There is the Stockade bed & breakfast in the capital city of Baton Rouge.  This is one of the unusual Louisiana bed and breakfast inns, because it was built in a stockade that occupied the area during the Civil War.  It is near LSU and downtown Baton Rouge on the historic Highland Road.  It is full of antiques and luxury accommodations.

Another historic bed and breakfast in Louisiana is the Baton Rouge Stunning Victorian Chateau de Clarisse bed & breakfast.  This beautiful gingerbread historic home will take you back to a time of peace and serenity in the old south.  As with all bed and breakfast hotels Baton Rouge offers, they have limited space and sell out early so book in advance to get a place!

Probably the biggest treat of all the Louisiana bed and breakfast inns is the plantation homes that offer overnight stays.  The Nottoway Plantation, just south of Baton Rouge is a really nice home that offers overnight accommodations.  Staying in this plantation home is a once in a lifetime experience and one of the great things to do on your next Louisiana vacation.  Fourteen rooms and cottages are preserved in historical splendor.  There is even a bridal suite and an outdoor pool and Jacuzzi.  You will be served your meals in luxury and southern decadence as you taste the legendary mint julep, Creole gumbo or the amazing bread pudding with rum sauce (a Louisiana specialty!).

There are several other plantation homes between Baton Rouge and New Orleans that operate as a Louisiana bed and breakfast, so check the internet to find some real treasures where you can spend the night in luxury and experience a taste of the old south.

Shreveport:

There are a few noteworthy bed and breakfast hotels in Shreveport.  The Slattery House B&B is listed National Register of Historic Places. This Victorian home has a wrap around porch, library, parlor, formal dining room, and four spacious guest rooms each with private baths.  And the Fairfield Inn boasts being the oldest and most elegant B&B in Shreveport.  Built in the 1870’s you can enjoy the Victorian charm of this historic house then take in and afternoon of sightseeing and gambling along the Red River.

There are several other Louisiana bed and breakfast hotels in smaller town, which could be an excellent day trip during your vacation to New Orleans, Lafayette, or Lake Charles.  Natchitoches and St Martinville have many bed and breakfast hotels in their historic districts.  There are plenty of Louisiana bed and breakfast hotels in the Cajun Country in Southern Louisiana like the Louisiana house boats in Morgan City, right in the heart of the swamps.

Whether you want history, luxury or the feel of an old world Inn, you are sure to find it at one of the many Louisiana bed and breakfast inns!
