Bourbon Street Hotels

Bourbon Street New Orleans is famous worldwide for its incredible nightlife, especially during the renowned Mardi Gras festival.  The best way to witness the excitement of New Orleans is to stay at one of the New Orleans hotels on Bourbon Street.

Bourbon Street Hotels are a great place to stay if you want to be in the middle of the action.  The Royal Sonesta Hotel on Bourbon Street is a great way to soak up the history and languish over the wrought iron balconies while watching the action below.  Famous for its gorgeous courtyard and pool area, this hotel is elegant and luxurious.  One of the premiere Bourbon Street Hotels, this 7 story French Quarter style building has 500 rooms.  You can choose from a Bourbon Street Balcony room, a poolside room or the Tower Club suites on the upper level.  You can find a four diamond restaurant overlooking a tropical courtyard, an oyster bar, elegant cocktail lounge, coffee shop, gift shop and fitness center. As with most hotels on Bourbon Street, if you want to get any sleep get an inside room by the pool to avoid the noise of Bourbon Street at night.

Some Bourbon Street Hotels stretch on one side of Bourbon Street and the other a quieter street like the elegant upscale Bourbon Wyndham Hotel, which boasts the flair of old Louisiana.  One of the oldest New Orleans hotels on Bourbon Street, the Bourbon Wyndham recently underwent $15 million in renovations to restore it to its old splendor.  Like so many New Orleans hotels on Bourbon Street, you can feel the Southern charm just dripping off the walls of the grand lobby.  Because it’s an historic hotel, each of the rooms are slightly different adding to the Old World charm.  However, upgraded modern amenities grace each room like high sped internet access and ergo-dynamic chairs for the business traveler.  Enjoy the outdoor pool or dine in one of the many fine restaurants, then catch the party scene in the Napoleon’s Itch lounge in the for cocktails.  You can even listen to live jazz in the Jazz bar on weekends.  This 300 year old landmark returns the splendor of the old South to the center of the French Quarter.

One of the more affordable Bourbon Street hotels is the Ramada Plaza Inn on Bourbon Street.   Located in the heart of the French Quarter, this hotel is in the middle of the action, and can be noisy, especially on weekends. There are 179 rooms and several with balconies over the Bourbon Street action.  There is an outdoor pool, a lobby lounge for cocktails and a café in the main lobby.

Bourbon Street is largely quiet during the day, coming alive after the sun goes down.  If you want a quiet stay in New Orleans, be careful which hotel you use, as Bourbon Street can be pretty noisy at night, especially during festivals.   Hotels on Bourbon Street are popular during the many events and festivals in new orleans, so book early to assure the best price and availability.  If you are looking for a party, try the Bourbon Street hotels.  If you want quiet, try another French Quarter location so you can rest in peace after a long night of drinking and dancing in the "Big Easy".
