Transportation

Louisiana is a big state and full of beautiful scenery.  Once you arrive there are plenty of transportation options to get you where you want to go.  You can take buses, boats, planes and trains to tour this great state.  So pick your itinerary first, and then reserve in advance the various flights and car rentals you will need to get you from city to city.  There are even place that offer a luxury rental car in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Louisiana car rental can be found in every major city and in some smaller towns as well.  When visiting New Orleans, if you plan to stay in the French Quarter and the major tourist areas, a car rental is not necessary, as there is mostly walking and public transportation to be had.  Car rental New Orleans offers is from the various national chains like Hertz, Budget, Avis and National.  Rent a Wreck Car Rental New Orleans is another famous budget chain if you don’t need the luxury, but just need some wheels.

Luxury rental cars can be had in the major cities, but you will have to plan in advance. Limousine rentals are common in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and other big cities.  Check with the concierge or on the internet to book the limo in advance.  You can also find luxury rental car in New Orleans from Hertz, Budget and Avis.  But if you want a luxury rental car in New Orleans you will have to book in advance as they are in limited supply.

Louisiana car rental might not be a necessity in New Orleans, but it can be a plus if you want to venture outside of the city and maybe take a day trip from New Orleans.  Road trips from New Orleans to nearby attractions are only a 15 minute drive, and a nice plantation tour by car from New Orleans to the capital city of baton Rouge is only 2 hours round trip.  You can even take a day trip from New Orleans to Lafayette in your Louisiana rental car and visit Cajun Country in a four hour round trip.

If you want to take advantage and book some really good discounted car rental New Orleans or other city in Louisiana offers, make a reservation in conjunction with a Vacation Package, where cheap prices can be had in conjunction with airline and hotel bookings.  If you travel to Louisiana in the summertime and plan to utilize a Louisiana car rental, make sure you have good air conditioning, as it can be quite hot and humid between June and August.
