As long as you get your marriage license in Maine, the ship’s captain can legally perform a Maine wedding ceremony. If you would prefer to get married in a religious ceremony, the captain can dock the boat at a wedding site along the coast. If you do plan a Maine wedding on a Windjammer cruise, you will need to be realistic about the ever-changing Maine weather patterns. Be sure to have a “plan B” in case of inclement weather. However, if the bride does not mind wearing a rain poncho over her wedding dress, a Maine wedding aboard a windjammer can be quite an adventure!

Southern Maine weddings are also performed at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport. The Inn also has one of the better wedding packages in Maine. It features a bridal suite for the evening of the reception, and includes champagne, flowers, Jacuzzi tub, fireplace and a full buffet breakfast the following morning.
