Ocean City Beaches
With a name like Ocean City, it's no surprise there's wide-open stretches of sand and surf in this bustling seaside community. With a bustling boardwalk and miles of beaches, the city bursts to life in the summer, when the days are long and the living is good. When embarking on an Ocean City beach vacation, it's important to know where to hit the beach and soak up the sun.
Unlike the other Maryland beaches, the Ocean City beaches aren't designated by name. Ten miles of white sand along the Atlantic Ocean are set aside for the public enjoyment. Budget travelers will be delighted to know that the beach in Ocean City Maryland is free. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the fabled summer season, you'll have the chance to enjoy swimming, surfing, surf fishing, flying kites, building sand castles, boogie boarding, and many other fun beach pursuits.
Lifeguards, here known by the title of Surf Rescue Technicians is this resort town, are on duty at various points along the white-sand Ocean City beaches, and access is only allowed when the professionals are around to keep everyone safe. Parking is available at many spots along the beach. Tickets are required April through October, but parking is free the rest of the year. Many Ocean City boardwalk hotels offer free parking to their guests.
Surfers also visit the beach in Ocean City Maryland. The town's beach patrol, along with the Eastern Surfing Association, designate two places for surfing, one on the north side of town and one to the south. Both of the beaches are one block wide, the location rotates every day. Most of the surf shops in towns carry schedules for this activity, one of the coolest things to do in Ocean City. An Ocean City beach vacation also includes time fishing and boating for many visitors. Both experienced anglers and first timers are welcome at the public fishing piers. Charters are available too, and frequent boat ramps are found along the beach. A wide array of hotels and restaurants are located within steps of the beaches and fishing piers, which can turn a day at the beach into a full-fledged Ocean City vacation.
