Salisbury Maryland is located in the Eastern region of Maryland south of Baltimore and about a half hour from Ocean City. The picturesque and thriving city is home to a number of beautifully restored residential areas perfect to explore during Salisbury tours and is set at the head of the Wicomico River. These various areas offer an excellent look into the history of Salisbury Maryland and into the interesting culture as well. The buildings exemplify beautiful specimens of Colonial, Victorian and Federal architecture. The Salisbury Zoo, rated as one of the best small zoos in the country, is another top attractions during Salisbury travel.


Salisbury Zoo history dates back to 1954 when the first animals were involved in a permanent exhibit at the City Park. Species native to South and Central America as well as North America are now exhibited in natural enclosures at the zoo. Salisbury tours of the zoo are the most popular during any Salisbury vacation and give off the feel of being in a truly natural setting. The zoo doesn’t have big crowds making it especially pleasant to visit. At Salisbury Zoo there is a lake ideal for picnics or a walk, a number of animals to see and a playground at the park perfect for many ages.


Higher learning is nothing new in Salisbury where two flourishing educational facilities, the Wor-Wic Community College and Salisbury Maryland University, are both located. Other area attractions include Poplar Hill Mansion, Chipman Cultural Center, Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art and Perdue Farms. Arthur W. Perdue Stadium and the Port of Salisbury are also highlights of Salisbury travel. Home to the second biggest marina along Chesapeake Bay, the Port of Salisbury Marina accommodates more than 100 boats and is a top attraction for those interested in yachting and boating during a Salisbury vacation.


Salisbury travel is popular as the city is the biggest found along the eastern shores of Maryland Salisbury tours are popular with visitors using a car rental to explore the beautiful shores along the east where several Maryland beaches are found. Poplar Hill Mansion is another stop popular with tourists enjoying a Salisbury vacation. Constructed between circa 1795 and 1805, the mansion illustrates intricately carved woodwork inside and beautiful bullseye and Palladian windows seen ideally from the outside. The Georgian style estate is open for Maryland tours during the first and third Sunday of every month between 1pm and 4pm. When visiting Salisbury travel to the Pemberton Hall and Park as well. Built in the early 1700s, this plantation style home is open for tours and is offers a number of well-kept trails in the park that overlook the Wimico River.


Baseball enthusiasts will definitely want to check out the Eastern Shore Baseball Hall of Fame Museum. Much like the must-see Babe Ruth Museum and Oriole Park in Baltimore, this is a great attraction for ball fans. The Hall of Fame presents the preservation, history and recognition of amateur baseball players as well as semi-pro and professional athletes playing ball on the Delmarva Peninsula where Salisbury is situated. For extended Salisbury tours there are a number of great choices for accommodation.
