Boston Car Rentals

A Boston car rental makes exploring the city simple. Many visitors arrive at Logan Airport and choose this method of transportation for their trip because of its ease and efficiency. While booking a Boston airport car rental isn’t essential, some travelers find that it provides a freedom that public transportation just can’t provide. Other forms of transportation to bring you from Logan Airport to the center of Boston include buses, limos, trains, shuttles, or taxis. The center of Boston is a great place for a stroll, and most of Boston is well served by trains. While rental cars in Boston aren’t a necessity, sometimes they’re a great luxury to have, especially if you plan to visit any major attractions that are outside the city center.

If you’re looking for cheap car rental in Boston, it is best to make reservations ahead of time. There are eight rental car companies that offer you a wide choice at the airport. If affordability is important to you, be sure to check the specials and deals that each company has to find the best deal. The eight companies to choose from are Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty. Some companies have partnerships with airlines or credit cars that earn travelers a discount. For additional savings, do a bit of research to see if one of these partnerships can save you even more.

Some travelers decide to book a Boston car rental last minute, and with so many companies, you will likely never be out of luck. If you make a Boston airport car rental reservation in advance, you are sure to spend less money and be driving the car of your choice. Travelers with special needs or those who require a large vehicle should always make reservations ahead of time, but if you don’t have any specific requirements, there are plenty of rental cars in Boston. When you arrive at the airport, there will be telephones in each terminal with a direct line to the car rental company.

After you’ve selected your Boston car rental, there are shuttles that will provide transportation between the terminal and the car rental area. These shuttles operate frequently from the curb outside of the baggage claim. If you miss one or the shuttles are too crowded, don’t worry, there is sure to be another one quickly. After you’ve returned your Boston Airport car rental, these same shuttles will transport you back to the terminal for your flight. As with all car rentals, when you first receive your vehicle, be sure to check for any scratches or damage. Before you leave the parking lot, report any markings to the car company.

Some travelers find that the best rental cars in Boston are the ones that contain GPS. If you’re unfamiliar with Boston or don’t want to be reading maps constantly, a GPS can make a rental car much less of a headache. Although this is an extra expense, some companies offer great deals on vehicles with GPS, especially if you book in advance. If you do plan on renting a car with GPS, be sure to bring the address of your hotel and desired attractions with you to ensure you find them quickly and easily. Expect to pay a premium for parking in most areas of Boston, and some, but not all, hotels will have parking available.
