Craigville Beach is one of the most popular beaches on Cape Cod. This has a lot to do with the fact that the Craigville area in general is a beach area that is open to the public. Many beach areas on the island are private and offer parking for residents only. It's not just the public access that makes Craigville Beach so enticing to Cape Cod visitors, however, and since there is lodging near the water, it isn't necessary to stray too far once the sun goes down.
Craigville Beach is both long and wide, so even though it attracts scores of visitors during the peak summer season, there is usually ample room for everyone. Other things that help to make it so enticing are the general lack of seaweed and rocks, the warm summer water temperatures, the soft sand, and the kite surfing possibilities. Kite surfing is very popular at Craigville Beach during the summer season.
As far as facilities are concerned, Craigville Beach has clean bathrooms, and visitors can also take advantage of the public showers. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer season, and just across the street are some places to get something to eat. Pay parking is available, though you won't likely need it if you are planning on staying at one of the area hotels or beach rentals.
The Craigville beach rentals and beach hotels can make for excellent Cape Cod travel bases. In addition to being close to a great beach on Nantucket Sound, they also provide proximity to Hyannis, which is a major Cape Cod transportation and commercial hub. Lovely homes and cottages figure among the area rental options, while the Craigville Beach hotels are essentially limited to the inviting Ocean View Motel, which is right on the beach. Nearby villages such as Centerville and Hyannis offer a wider selection of hotels for those who wish to expand their area lodging horizons. In Centerville, for example, you will find the Centerville Corners Inn, which provides good rooms at a great price.
