Veterans Beach

Veterans Beach can be a great place to go when some fun in the Cape Cod sun is what you seek. One of the best public beaches on the island, this strip on the south coast is known for its soft sand and its relatively calm waters. It actually sits on the outer section of Hyannis Harbor, and on most summer days, numerous yachts moor just offshore. Summer is also when a number of boat races take place just off Veterans Beach.
From Main Street in Hyannis, all you have to do to get to Veterans Beach is hop on Ocean Street and take it south to Hawes Avenue. Upon arrival at the beach, the urge to get your feet in the soft sand is likely to prove enticing, and since the water is usually on the calmer side, swimming might also be a tempting endeavor.
Sometimes referred to as Veterans Park Beach, Veterans Beach enjoys a park-like setting. There are even picnic areas with grills for visitors to take advantage of. Also found at Veterans Beach Hyannis Massachusetts are a snack bar, a playground, and a bathhouse with restrooms. Public parking is available, and during the peak summer tourist season, lifeguards are on duty.
Worth highlighting is the fact that Veterans Beach is adjacent to the Kennedy Memorial in Hyannis. Visitors might also be happy to know that on one end of the beach is the Hyannis Yacht Club. Hyannis is a major Cape Cod hub, so there is plenty to do while in the area. There are also plenty of places to stay. The Salt Winds B&B and the Resort & Conference Center at Hyannis are just two examples of good Hyannis hotels, and among other things, they have guests within easy reach of both Veterans Beach Hyannis Massachusetts and nearby Craigville Beach.
