One of the great things about Martha's Vineyard is the fact that you are never very far from the inviting beaches regardless of where you choose to stay. That being said, there are some beachfront lodging establishments that are hard to pass on when staying especially close to the sand is the main aim. Perhaps the best overall beach hotel on the island is the Winnetu Oceanside Resort.

Another hotel that deserves special mention when it comes to the Martha's Vineyard beach hotels is Isabelle's Beach House. Found right across the street from the ocean in Oak Bluffs, this eleven-unit retreat is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the sand. Savoring the ocean views from the veranda is reason enough to book a stay at Isabelle's, and you'll be close to all the in-town attractions when a break from the beach is in order. As is true of most Martha's Vineyard hotels, Isabelle's Beach House includes breakfast in its rates, and more often than not, these breakfasts feature delicious homemade waffles. 83 Seaview Avenue in Oak Bluffs is the address for this delightful inn.

Another inn that beach enthusiasts might keep in mind when trying to find their ideal hotels in Martha's Vineyard is the Beach Plum Inn. Situated on seven lovely acres near the sea in Menemsha, this relaxing inn is known for its fun and relaxing atmosphere. While it doesn't sit right on the water, the Menemsha Harbor is just a short walk away, and better yet, guests are rewarded with passes that allow access to some of the best private beaches on the island. These beaches include Lucy Vincent Beach. Beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas are also provided, and you can also borrow a cooler to take to the beach if you wish. As for ways to stay busy on the hotel grounds, the facilities include a tennis court, a fitness center, and one of the best restaurants in Martha's Vineyard.

Found on the harbor in Edgartown, this historic hotel provides direct access to a small public beach, and there are a variety of fun things to do when you're not indulging in beach time. A heated outdoor pool and a pair of tennis courts figure among the facilities, and the standard amenities in the 114 guest units include cable TV, Wi-Fi, and CD players. As is true of the Winnetu Oceanside Resort, the Harborview Hotel & Resort is one of the most family-friendly hotels in Martha's Vineyard, partly because of the fact that it offers spacious guest units and a range of fun things to do.

The beachfront accommodations in Martha's Vineyard also include vacation rentals. A luxurious beachfront home can always make a fine travel base, and cottages and condos are also available in good supply. As is true of the Martha's Vineyard beach hotels, the island's beach rentals can fill up months in advance, so booking your stay as soon as possible is the recommended route.
