Martha’s Vineyard Bed and Breakfasts

Martha's Vineyard bed and breakfasts figure among the most popular bed and breakfasts in all of New England. This is especially true during the summer season, as flocks of tourists head to the island for some fun in the sun. You can find good bed and breakfasts all over Martha's Vineyard, and complementing these B&Bs are numerous inns that offer similar lodging experiences. Most, if not all, of the island's inns serve some kind of breakfast, and they tend to be smaller than most hotels.

While the Martha's Vineyard bed and breakfasts are found in various destinations around the island, there are some destinations that boast far more than others. These destinations include Oak Bluffs. One of only two towns on the island where alcohol is served, Oak Bluffs maintains a relatively healthy nightlife scene, but that's not the only reason to visit. The lodging scene here is also worth checking out.

An Oak Bluffs B&B that you might move to the top of your list is the Oak Bluffs Inn. This ten-unit lodging at 64 Circuit Avenue exudes Victorian charm, and you won't want for amenities in the tasteful rooms. One of the rooms is an apartment-style abode that has two bedrooms and a kitchenette. Rates include a continental breakfast that features tasty treats, and there are plenty of good restaurants close by for when lunch or dinner rolls around.

Another Oak Bluffs B&B that is worth keeping in mind when trying to find your ideal place to stay on Martha's Vineyard is Brady's NESW. In addition to four colorful rooms that have plenty of style, this bed and breakfast at 10 Canonicus Avenue offers relatively low rates, helping to make it an especially good B&B choice for those who are trying to keep their budget in order. Three of the rooms share a bath, which is part of the reason why the rates are low, and you can always hope to spend extra for the one unit that has its own private bath if you please. It too is a good overall value, though it does cost considerably more. Regardless of which guest unit you secure at Brady's NESW, you will be close to Nantucket Sound and a sandy beach, not to mention all the other great Oak Bluffs attractions.

Edgartown is also home to a number of Martha's Vineyard bed and breakfasts, and much like Oak Bluffs, it has plenty to offer the tourist, including bars and clubs. Should you be planning on visiting for more than just a few hours, then a stay at the Hob Knob is arguably the way to go. This might just be the best bed and breakfast on the entire island, if not the best hotel overall. For starters, the luxury boutique hotel vibe is hard to deny, and you could hardly top the full breakfasts. Plush robes and high quality toiletries are among the many amenities that are provided in each and every room, and if a room isn't big enough or private enough for your taste, you can always hope to secure one of the two home rentals. It's not all about the fantastic guest units and the satisfying breakfasts at the Hob Knob in Edgartown. A small spa figures among the facilities, as does a fitness room and a small business center. Bike rentals are available for an added fee should you wish to take advantage. The address is 128 Main Street.

One of the other top Edgartown bed and breakfasts is the Victorian Inn. Found at 24 South Water Street, this charming inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is just a short walk from everything in town. All ten rooms have a private bath, and air conditioning comes standard as well. Some rooms have a private balcony or deck, and depending on which guest unit you secure, your view will be that of a lovely garden or the Edgartown Harbor and nearby Chappaquiddick Island. A gourmet breakfast is included in the rates at the Victorian Inn, and as is true of most Martha's Vineyard hotels, Internet access is also free.

You don't have to limit yourself to the wonderful Martha's Vineyard bed and breakfasts that are found in Oak Bluffs or Edgartown if you don't want to. There are some gems found in other tempting destinations. They include places like the Clark House, which calls Vineyard Haven home, and the Beach Plum Inn, which is one of the best places to stay in the village of Menemsha.
