Nashoba Valley Ski Area

Nashoba Valley ski area is a 40 minute drive from Wachusett Mountain and 25 miles from Boston, creating a popular circuit for Massachusetts skiers and boarders during the winter months. Since 1964, Nashoba Valley Ski Resort has offered rope tows for its first four ski slopes—which are still there and fully operational—and has, over the years, expanded into a great mid-size ski facility featuring two conveyor lifts and four chairlifts (and the rope tows) which combine to accommodate more than 11,000 riders every hour.

Anyone looking for a ski jump at Nashoba Valley will find several jumps and hits to try out at the Terrain Park, a freestyle area for both skiers and snowboarders that features many different competitions and contests. The Terrain Park is the perfect spot to experiment, and though there are solid rules and regulations to abide by, most riders will find the area a relaxed and fun place to hang out. A ski jump at Nashoba Valley Terrain Park can range in size and evolve into smaller and larger hits depending on conditions and any special events.

When hankering to hit a natural ski jump at Nashoba Valley, several of the 9 lifts rise up to and close to the summit. Nashoba Valley provides 3 triple chairlifts, a double chairlift, 3 rope tows, and two conveyors. There are 3 beginner slopes, 8 intermediate runs, and 5 black diamonds for a total of 16 runs. The Nashoba Valley ski area also has a tubing park which is slightly behind the main mountain and has a separate entrance. The tubing area is open seven days per week, including evenings. There are a total of fifteen tubing lanes, grooming vehicles, an onsite lodge for dining and drinks, and a full-service pub.

Ski and snowboard lessons are widely available at Nashoba. One-hour group lessons tend to be the most affordable with three convenient start times for kids four and older and one daily and one evening start time for adults. There are ski vacation packages available that include a lift ticket, rental, and lesson all in one. Private lessons welcome kids ages three and older and adults. Multiple-week lessons are another possibility at Nashoba Valley Ski Resort. They include a variety of different ski and snowboard programs to choose between. There are also Vacation Programs offering three full days of lessons and fun for five-year-olds and up as well as adults.

From Monday through Sunday during each ski season, the Nashoba Valley Ski Resort offers a pro ski shop selling the latest snowboard gear and ski equipment as well as renting out all necessary gear. With pros individually sizing up each rider, visitors will get a sure fit. Exchanging gear is also possible if there are problems with the equipment. One of the best times to visit the Nashoba Valley ski area shop is at the end of the season when there are clearances and incredible deals on that season’s gear.

Planning ski vacations to Nashoba is an easy feat. Conveniently, there are two affiliated Massachusetts hotels offering ski vacation packages every year. They include the Hampton Inn and the Marriott Residence Inn, both about two miles from the mountain. The Nashoba Valley ski area has an official address in Westford, Massachusetts, where there are several hotels and vacation rentals, including waterfront cabins and cottages, to choose between, both in town and nearby.
