Michigan Casinos

Most likely when you think of casinos, you immediately conjure up images of the Las Vegas strip with all the lights and glitz. Yet Michigan casinos continue to make a name for themselves as well. Take your pick from three Detroit casinos or the many statewide options that give you the opportunity to add some blackjack, poker and slot machine excitement to your Michigan vacation. Most of the casinos in Michigan offer not only gaming, but nightlife and great dining as well. So, between all there is to do in the great Michigan outdoors, you just might head indoors and take a chance to hit it big.

The Detroit casinos add more excitement to your big-city agenda. The Greektown Casino at 555 E. Lafayette offers the largest poker room in town, with 21 tables, plasma t.v.’s and a nice bar. Add to its 75,000 square feet of space, 2,400 slots and 90 overall gaming tables. Take your winnings to one of the three fine dining restaurants at the casino, or out into the Greektown streets for more dining options and a lively atmosphere. For your next special event, book the Greektown Casino’s Olive Room banquet facility for a great time.

The MGM Grand Detroit Casino at 1300 John C. Lodge features a Hollywood atmosphere with art-deco appeal and with 2,600 slots and 80 tables, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to try your luck. The MGM grand buffet and two gourmet restaurants more than satisfy your hunger as you break from the games to get some refueling. The third casino in Detroit is the aptly named MotorCity Casino found at 2901 Grand River Avenue. It is open 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week. It mixes entertainment on its two stages, with 5 restaurants, 4 lounges and full mix of gaming slots and tables. These Detroit casinos more than take care of your gaming and entertainment needs while in Motown.

Even when you are heading north into the Upper Peninsula, you can find Michigan casinos to offer that special flare to your getaway. Kewadin Casinos operates in five UP locations with its premier venue in Sault Ste Marie. Not only the gaming shines here. You’ll find convention facilities and a large hotel spread with 320 rooms including a pool, on-site spa and a fitness center. It even has a 1,500 seat theatre and an award winning restaurant. The other four Kewadin Casinos in the UP operate out of St. Ignace, Manistique, Hessel, and Christmas, Michigan. You’ll find that the natural beauty here is stunning, and with the assortment of gaming options through these upstate casinos, you’ll find yourself wanting to come back soon.

There are a total of 26 casinos in Michigan, and the majority are housed on Native American tribal land. Already scattered throughout the state, there are plans to expand the number of Michigan casinos and this helps add employment opportunities and build-up of statewide revenues. Michigan residents and visitors alike will find that the growth of gaming options adds to the already diverse list of things to do in this great vacation state. Casinos Michigan style accentuate many of the great state’s vacation towns, which makes your next Michigan getaway the complete experience.
