MotorCity Casino

The MotorCity Casino Detroit was the first of the three commercial Detroit casinos to open its permanent gaming facilities, which it did in June of 2007. By the end of 2007, it hopes to have finished its planned $275 million expansion, which includes both interior and exterior remodeling of the casino and the addition of a 17-story, 400-room hotel. Among the hotel facilities will be a new spa, several new dining choices, notable retail outlets and additional parking. The Motor City Casino also expanded its gaming space to 100,000 square feet, and is adding improvements to its food service building. More retail outlets and increased convention space entail the changes to the food service building, as does a new, 1,200 seat theater. In October of 2007, the MGM Grand Casino Detroit finished its similar renovations, and in 2008, the Greektown Detroit Casino will add the finishing touches to its overhaul. Speaking of "overhauling", the renowned California car designer, Chip Foose, from the television program, Overhualing, will add some of his design touches to the MotorCity Casino facelift project. The idea is to give the MotorCity Casino a "future-retro" look and feel that integrates both the past and the future.

Visitors who know the old MotorCity Casino will be dazzled when they enter the new casino. The gaming improvements aim to give visitors a taste of Las Vegas in the midwest. Cutting-edge machines and state of the art visual and audio touches can be found throughout the 100,000 square feet of gaming space. The Motor City Casino Detroit has over 2,500 slots and video poker machines to choose from, ranging in denominations from one penny to $50. Among the popular slot games featured are, Deal or No Deal, Cleopatra, and Quick Hits. Improved ergonomic slot chairs make the gaming experience all the more comfortable, should you be in for the long haul. Fans of table games will find 70 different options, from BlackJack and Craps, to Roulette and 3 and 4-card Poker. If "big-league" poker is what you are after, you might want to make prior reservations for one of the 12 tables found in the non-smoking Poker Room. Texas Hold'em, Seven Card Stud and Omaha Hi-Lo are among the daily tournaments you can hope to join in the Poker Room. To enhance your MotorCity Casino gaming experience, you can sign up for the free Club Metro membership, which awards various casino benefits for players.

After you've won some cash on the floor, which hopefully you do, you can allocate some of your winnings at the Motor City Casino towards a satisfying meal. Among the casual dining options are the MotorCity Pit Stop, which serves up some homestyle barbecue dishes, and the Grand River Deli, offering sandwiches, salads and some savory homemade desserts. On the restaurant pavilion's second floor, you can grab some snacks and refreshments at the High Octane Café, and the Classics Buffet is where you want to head for an all-you-can-eat American and internationally-inspired buffet. On Friday nights from 5:00 p.m.-Midnight, seafood lovers might consider visiting the Classics Buffet seafood buffet. IRIDESCENCE is the casino's AAA Four Diamond award-winning restaurant. Its master chef makes sure that everything from the appetizers to the end dessert is just right. The restaurant's wine list alone is impressive, earning IRIDESCENCE a 2007 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. IRIDESCENCE is open Thursday-Sunday from 5:00 p.m.-Midnight.

It's not all about gambling and dining at the Motor City Casino Detroit. After you've had your fill of those, you can check out the entertainment options or enjoy the comfort of your luxury hotel room. At the Chromatics Lounge, live bands rev-up the night on the casino's first floor, and more live music can be enjoyed in the Overdrive Lounge. The Overdrive Lounge features comfortable seating where you could relax with a drink, but the lounge's powerful sound system means you can play the slots while you listen. At the unique Radio Bar, you can enjoy a drink and listen to the grooves being played by the bar's DJ. On the Motor City Casino website you can find a calender that details upcoming events at the casino's entertainment venues. While you can choose to stay in one of the many downtown Detroit hotels, you might consider booking your room at the MotorCity Casino hotel Detroit. Among the spacious 400 guest rooms are 41 suites.
