Pine Knob Ski Resort

Pine Knob Ski Resort brings the fun of skiing in Michigan to a part of the state that does not receive as much snow as the Upper Peninsula or the Lake Michigan shore. Between the hearty annual snowfall and state-of-the-art snowmaking equipment, there will be plenty of the white stuff for outdoor fun. The Pine Knob ski area is located in Clarkston, about 45 miles northwest of Detroit in Oakland Country. The 95-acre resort has easy to access from the area's major highways, so you can spend more time having fun than driving around.

With a vertical drop of 300 feet, the Pine Knob ski area offers a variety of things to do for skiers and snowboarders, as well as a variety of lift tickets and packages. Here, the fourteen runs rated for skiers of all abilities, nearly evenly divided between beginner, intermediate, and expert runs. With six chairlifts, four surface lifts, and two carpet lifts, all of the skiers and snowboarders can get where they want to go without having to wait. The trails are fully lit for nighttime skiing every day of the week.

Along with all of this cold-weather fun, the Pine Knob ski resort offers plenty of places where you can relax and warm up. The lodge features a large rental shop and ski shop, where you can pick up all the gear you need to have fun on the slopes. You'll also find a full-service cafeteria, a snack bar, and WiFi Internet access at this warm and cozy place.

The adjacent DTE Energy Music Theatre is one of the best places in the entire state to enjoy concerts and live music event. The 15,000-seat outdoor venue was called the Pine Knob Music Theatre before the naming rights were sold, and even today, the theater is affectionately called Pine Knob. The ski area also is located next to the Pine Knob Mansion, an elegant historic home now used for special events and weddings. Golfers know this scenic setting as one of the best places in Oakland County to tee off-in total, Pine Knob is home to 54 holes of golf, spread over three well-maintained courses.
