Mississippi historical events include the Choctaw Indian Fair in Choctaw, Mississippi. The Choctaw Indians were among the first settlers in Mississippi along with the Chickasaw and the Natchez tribes. This fun event has been celebrated for almost six decades and consists of four days filled with Choctaw heritage and culture. Crafts, arts, dances and the World Championship stickball competition are a few of the things happening at this long-time fair. Gospel and country entertainers, thrilling rides and exciting contests are some of the other activities that occur every year in mid-July.

Other Mississippi historical events include the Vicksburg Run Thru History which includes a 10-kilometer race that has taken place each year since 1979. Beginning at Vicksburg National Military Park the race continues along the streets of Vicksburg to Frontage Road and finishes at the Battle Field Inn. Vicksburg is also known for another of the fun Mississippi events happening in April. Mississippi bike events are great way for those who enjoy motorcycles to get together and rev their engines! One of the most famous Mississippi bike events is the Mississippi State H.O.G. Rally. Happening each year at the Natchez Convention Center the event includes a poker run, bike games, organized rides, a bike parade and much more! Each year in September bikers anticipate this exciting Mississippi events kick-off as they ready their prized motorcycles for a colorful show. The Sturgis South Motorcycle Rally is another of the Mississippi bike events happening annually in August due south of Tupelo. Biker rallies are the highlight as everyone checks out the striking personalized bikes. Food and heaps of live entertainment are also on the menu.

The Elvis Presley Fest is another of the really fun events in Mississippi happening at the beginning of June in Tupelo where "The King" was born. The obvious highlight here is the fantastic live music paying tribute to Elvis's work. Gospel, blues and country is showcased by live musicians on the downtown streets of the town along with tasty southern food offered by the many different vendors.

The Mississippi State Fair is jammed packed with excited crowds and great weather in October when the Fair premiers at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson. Many fun rides, activities and great food are all available at this family event. Admission is $5.00 and kids under 6 get in free. On any weekday enjoy free admission from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
