Branson Events

Great Branson events happen year-round, and when planning your vacation, creating your itinerary around these fun festivals provides plenty of choices for a memorable trip. Whether your travel plans bring you to this Missouri city in the fall, winter, spring, or summer, there are sure to be great events going on.

There are a few events in Branson that are particularly famous, and these dependably draw a large crowd. Of the many annual festivals, two stand out as being the largest and the prettiest. The Branson MO Veterans Week celebrations are held in early November, and it’s followed by the Branson Festival of Lights holiday celebration, which runs from November through December.

The Branson MO Veterans Week draws thousands of tourists, local residents, and military personnel and their family to celebrate all members of the armed forces. It’s touted as the largest celebration of its kind in the US, with thousands of people playing homage to military veterans. The celebrations include an opening ceremony with several performers (many of whom have regular shows in Branson), and guest speakers. There is an All American Lunch served every day of the week, a Motorcycle Toy Run, a special veterans cruise aboard the Branson Belle, and veterans’ specials at the Branson Central Dinner Theater, among others. The week ends with the Veterans Day Parade, which winds through downtown Branson and features marching bands, and the closing ceremonies.

To start the holiday season off early, the Branson Festival of Lights features a variety of holiday-themed displays that light up the downtown, neighborhood streets, businesses, and attractions in an array of holiday colors. The popular holiday tradition features over five million twinkling lights and is a favorite event for residents and visitors to Branson. Along with the Branson Festival of Lights, the Trail of Lights at the Shepherd of the Hills homestead has additional illuminated displays along with the opportunity to drive through the homestead, see the displays, and listen to holiday music. The lighted displays include themed villages, animated scenes, the North Pole, elves at work, and holiday and nativity scenes.

One of the annual Branson events that gather international performers, musicians, and singers, from around the world is the annual spring World Fest celebration. During the festivities, a variety of local and international foods, craft and culinary classes, activities, and musical performances keep visitors entertained.

Along with World Fest, Branson events include musical festivals, family fests, parades, food festivals, contests, and arts and crafts shows. In August, the Old-Time Fiddle Contest attracts some of the best fiddlers in the US to complete for the prize. The festival is a great opportunity to relax and enjoy traditional Ozark culture and music.

Autumn is a beautiful time in Branson with crisp temperatures and fall colors highlighting the mountains. In mid-September, Branson hosts the annual Autumn Days Arts and Crafts Festival where more than 100 artists display and sell their handcrafted items. The annual Autumn Family Fest follows the craft festival in November featuring local food and entertainment.

For a peak at new shows for the upcoming year, the annual Hot Winter Fun Big Show provides previews of many of the performances visitor’s will have access to throughout the year. Branson is a popular destination location with the many tourist attractions at Silver Dollar City, White Water theme park, attractions, shows, and world-renowned trout fishing at Lake Taneycomo. Planning your vacation to coincide with one of the city’s annual events is the perfect way to see the best of Branson.
