Glacier National Park Hotels

When it comes to the Glacier National Park hotels, only a handful can be found inside the park's boundaries. For good reason, these Glacier National Park lodging establishments are quite popular with visitors. Should you have trouble securing a room at these establishments, there are also options for hotels near Glacier National Park. Since most Glacier National Park visitors have little else in mind than exploring the beautiful natural surroundings, cable TV can be hard to come by at the Glacier National Park hotels. As such, you might inquire about the television situation if that is important to you. In any event, it's always a good idea to book your stay at one of the Glacier National Park hotels well in advance, as rooms here can go fast. Recommendations for hotels that are found within Glacier National Park can be found below, and you'll also get some suggestions for hotels near Glacier National Park. Don't forget that campsites abound here when looking for your ideal Glacier National Park lodging setup.

Of all the Glacier National Park lodging options, the Many Glacier Hotel is the most popular. A sprawling lodging complex, this National Historic Landmark rests on the shores of Swiftcurrent Lake, which sits idly at the base of Mt. Grinnell. There are 214 guest rooms at this Swiss-style lodge, and among the overall facilities figure a lounge, a gift shop, a snack store, and a fine dining establishment. Should you be interested in enjoying bus tours or boat cruises during your stay, they're easy to book, and other outdoor pursuits like birding and hiking are easy to plan as well. The rooms here are rustic and retain much of their historic appeal, and while the amenities are somewhat scarce, you should enjoy a comfortable stay. Smaller units are available for less money if you're looking to save a little. Standard amenities in all the units here include a fan, a hair dryer (upon request), an alarm clock, signature bath and body products, a direct-dial telephone, and an iron/ironing board (upon request). As is true at the lodge that is mentioned in the following paragraph, some of the units here feature extras like a TV, a bathtub, internet access, air-conditioning, and a mini-fridge if you're interested.

Found on Lake McDonald, which is the largest lake in the park, the Lake McDonald Lodge is one of the more historic Glacier National Park lodging establishments. You'll find lodge rooms, cottages, and motor inn rooms at the Lake McDonald Lodge, which was built between the years 1913 and 1914. The motel rooms here are akin to your standard motel rooms, and are well-maintained if you are interested. As for the lodge rooms, they feature a pleasant decor and are historic in their appeal. Opt for one of the cottage units, which are housed in multi-unit buildings, and you'll enjoy a lovely, wooded setting that is within walking distance of the main lodge. During your stay here, you can enjoy scenic cruises, which depart on a daily basis, or you can rent your own craft and take to the water. Should you need camping, fishing, or hiking supplies, the onsite camping store can help you out, and the lodge's gift shop is worth exploring as well. A fireside dining room, a grill and pizzeria, and a lounge bar also figure among the lodge's overall facilities. As for the guest units here, they are fairly rustic, which adds to their charm. Standard amenities in the units include a direct-dial telephone, signature bath and body products, a hair dryer (upon request), a complimentary park guidebook, a fan (upon request), and an alarm clock. The Village Inn at Apgar also offers motor inn-style units on the shores of Lake McDonald.

In addition to staying at one of the lodge-style Glacier National Park hotels, you can also consider the motor inns. Mentioned above was the Village Inn at Agpar, which deserves a look, and you might also consider the Rising Sun Motor Inn and the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn. The Rising Sun Motor Inn can be found near St. Mary Lake, and it enjoys a terrific mountain setting. There are both cottage and motor inn rooms available here, as well as a camping store, a restaurant, and a gift shop. You can also easily book bus tours and boat cruises here, and you might be interested to know that this Glacier National Park lodging establishment also figures on the National Register of Historic Places. As for the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, it can be found about a mile away from the Many Glacier Hotel. Popular with those who are looking for a good value, the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn has simpler guest units to offer, and you might have to share a communal bathroom if you book one of the lesser-priced options. Like the other Glacier National Park hotels, these motor inns are often great spots to view wandering Montana wildlife. The amenities at both of these establishments are akin to those at the other park hotels.

Since you might find it hard to get a room or a cottage unit at one of the hotels listed above, you can always consider staying at one of the hotels near Glacier National Park. The Glacier Park Lodge, which can be found just outside the park's southeastern boundary, features a 9-hole golf course, an outdoor swimming pool, which helps to make it an excellent choice. There is also a day spa here, a fine dining restaurant, and a gift shop. Other hotels near Glacier National Park can be found in nearby towns, such as Whitefish, Kalispell, and Bigfork, and while they're a bit further off, they still offer relatively easy access to all that they area has to offer.
