Nebraska City Hotels

One of the finest Nebraska City hotels is also one of the state’s resorts and spas and a major conference center. Its location only about an hour’s drive south of Omaha and an hour’s drive east of Lincoln. This means the city’s proximity to the major centers of business, commerce, and tourism makes the Arbor Day Lied Lodge and Conference Center convenient for Nebraska vacations as well as for business conferences. It is set in 72 acres of beautiful grounds with walking and hiking trails and has an Olympic-sized swimming pool, fitness center, fine dining, and many more amenities including a golf course.

Of all the Nebraska City hotels Lied Lodge is undoubtedly the best. As an added bonus, the grounds also contain the historic former J. Sterling Morton home, a 52-room neocolonial mansion furnished with many original antiques. The family carriages are displayed in the carriage house, and there are guided tours of the property available. Another of the good Nebraska City hotels is the Best Western Inn. This property is centrally located, and is still only three miles from the airport, virtually across the street from outlet mall shopping, and within five miles of golfing venues and the Lied Lodge and Arbor Park.

For cheap Nebraska City lodging you will find several Nebraska City motels available as well. Several are nationwide chains and franchises, such as Super 8 and Economy Inn. Other very nice Nebraska City motels are locally owned and operated. The Apple Inn Motel, unlike many motels across the country, is centrally located in the downtown business area and close to the city’s attractions.

You will find other clean and comfortable Nebraska City motels close to highways (both in Nebraska and neighboring Iowa), and convenient for getting your car rentals or your own vehicle out on the road to other parts of the state. The Best Value Inn and Super 8 Motel, in fact, are actually located across the Missouri River in the state of Iowa on Route 29, that state’s main north-south highway. You will find that some of these will have refrigerators and basic cooking appliances, which can help you save on the costs of dining out at local restaurants.

Other cheap Nebraska City lodging can be found in some of the area’s charming bed and breakfast inns. They are both good value substitutes for Nebraska City hotels and offer a completely unique experience. Generally family owned, they can also give you a taste of history, as many are located in historically significant homes. With a small number of rooms, bed and breakfast inns provide more intimate and authentic interactions with the local people. An added attraction is the inclusion of hot home-cooked meals, often a gourmet dining experience. The Cassel Grove Homestead Inn is located a bit south of the city in a lovely 1880s Victorian farmhouse. Just on the outskirts of town is Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast, an 1878 Victorian home, located near some of the state orchards and wineries. More bed and breakfast inns can be found tucked away in the countryside in the region.

If you are a lover of the outdoors, you may find that some of the best cheap Nebraska City lodging is found in the region’s camping areas. Many of these have both primitive campsites as well as electric, water, and sewer hook ups for motor homes and recreational vehicles. They also provide some of the best access to hunting and fishing spots and outdoor recreation on the river.
