Omaha Hotels

Virtually all of the luxury hotels in Nebraska will be found here in the state’s largest city. Several of these Omaha hotels are boutique properties or located in buildings of historic significance. Other deluxe accommodations in Omaha are well known national and international franchises such as Hilton, Embassy Suites, and Courtyard. But there are also plenty of cheap Omaha lodging options and numerous Omaha motels available.

There are more than 10,000 rooms available in the city, including Omaha motels and fine boutique properties and bed and breakfast inns. You will be able to find accommodations in Omaha that will meet the tastes and interests of just about everyone. The considerations important to most visitors will be budget and the location of the property – as well as what things to do have brought you to the city. If you are visiting to attend a convention or similar types of events, then you will probably be located in one of the Omaha hotels with meeting and conference space or near the downtown Qwest Center. These include the Courtyard by Marriott and two Hilton properties.

If you’ve come for sightseeing, you’re in luck, as the downtown area is fairly compact and most of the attractions in the city are located in this area. There are even golfing venues in the greater downtown area, less than one mile from the internationally-respected Henry Doorly Zoo, one of the best zoos in the country. There are some excellent Omaha hotels in this neighborhood, including the cheap Omaha lodging that is suitable for families on a budget. You’ll even find this kind of lodging just over the Missouri River in Council Bluffs, Iowa (site of some casinos).

Another of the premier attractions in the city is the historic Old Market district, the city’s center of dining, arts, and entertainment. There are numerous Omaha hotels in this district, including the lovely Magnolia, a fine boutique property located in a building on the National Register of Historic Places. Staying in this neighborhood also places you in close proximity to the celebrated Joslyn Art Museum and the historic old State Capitol Building.

While there are Omaha motels that are fairly centrally located near the downtown area, you will find most of them close to the highways that criss cross the city. These are excellent if you’re in your own vehicle or using car rentals for transportation. Virtually all of them will have free parking, often just steps from your room door. They also make it convenient to branch out to explore the outlying areas in the suburbs.

As with airports most everywhere, you will also find good cheap Omaha lodging near Eppley Field. Because of the peculiar geographic feature of the Missouri River that that makes the airport almost an island within the state of Iowa, some of this cheap and convenient lodging can be found in that state.

If you’re looking for truly unique experience that gives you a taste of the region’s history as well as more intimate and authentic interaction with the local people, you might want to check out the charming bed and breakfast inns. These have only a few rooms and are family owned and operated. Most are located in historic homes. Since they are found primarily in residential neighborhoods, they are quieter than large Omaha hotels located in the downtown area. You’ll also find these outside of the city, set in peaceful countryside landscapes.
