Cirque Du Soleil Elvis

Cirque Du Soleil Elvis
Beatles LOVE | Elvis | KA | Mystere | O | Zumanity

Show Type:
Production Shows

Location:
MGM City Center Hotel and Casino

(set to open in 2009 on Las Vegas Blvd. between the Monte Carlo and the Bellagio)

Currently, there are five permanent Cirque du Soleil shows that you can catch in Las Vegas, and in the near future, that number will grow to six.  Not long after opening The Beatles - Love show at the Mirage, Cirque du Soleil released news of a like show in the works.  The Cirque du Soleil Elvis show will be produced in cooperation with CKX, which is a media and entertainment company that owns the rights to the name, likeness and image of Elvis Presley.  The show is slated to tour the country when it is ready to go, at least until it’s permanent home is established at the MGM City Center Hotel Casino, which is slated to open in 2009.  It is sure to have plenty of hip-swaying moves and classic Elvis songs.  Whether you love Elvis or are just a casual fan, the Las Vegas Elvis show is sure to strike a chord somewhere within.

The Las Vegas Elvis Cirque du Soleil production will be much like The Beatles - Love show, in that it will focus on the life and career of The King.  The show is intended as a tribute to Elvis, who reached an iconic status in Las Vegas.  While the definitive arrangement of the Cirque du Soleil Elvis show has yet to be released, the basic idea is that the show will chronicle his life without just throwing an Elvis impersonator onto the stage.  There are already plenty of those in Las Vegas, and while they may have their place, this show will be more spectacular and no doubt employ the artistry and imagination that Cirque du Soleil is known for.  Many of Elvis’s biggest fans appreciate his presence in Vegas, and the chief executive of CKX puts it best when he says, “...you can’t really think about Las Vegas without considering Cirque du Soleil”, and the same goes for Elvis.  Elvis is documented to have performed at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel 837 times between the years of 1969 and 1976.  One of Cirque du Soleil’s founders has stated that their mission with this new Elvis Las Vegas show is to honor the excitement and energy that Elvis brought to Vegas, and perhaps no production company does excitement better than Cirque du Soleil.

As the Cirque du Soleil Elvis show is still in its concept stage, one can only imagine how Cirque du Soleil will go about evoking The King’s image throughout the show.  One thing that is certain, is that it will be a spectacular show that will have Elvis fans of all degrees smiling on one heck of a career.  Cirque du Soleil does plan to employ its brand of high-energy performers, as well as a list of talented singers and musicians to bring the Las Vegas Elvis show alive.  Much like the Beatles show, the Cirque du Soleil Elvis show will likely diverge from wowing with its acrobatics in favor of presenting a song and dance venture that will surely highlight some of Presley’s signature moves.  Helping to sensationalize the show even more, the latest multimedia sound and lighting technology will be used in the show in an overall attempt to promote a more quality emotional bond with audience members.  When the Las Vegas Elvis show opens at the impressive City Center, it will distinguish an undeniable link between the city’s past and its future.

It is presumed that Cirque du Soleil Elvis tickets will be a hot commodity when the show comes to fruition, and while Cirque du Soleil Elvis tickets are currently unavailable, if you want to be one of the first people to see the show, then you might continue checking for their release.  Cirque du Soleil Elvis tickets will be made available for purchase online and at the City Center box office and chances are that you won’t find any of them floating around in the discount Las Vegas show tickets bin early on.

Artist Biography:

Simply put, Elvis Presley is a legend.  It’s hard to sum up his life with a word, but there are words that come to mind.  Sensational, unique, charismatic and sensual are just some of the words that describe Elvis Aaron Presley, who was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935.  Elvis was born a twin, however his brother to be was stillborn, leaving Elvis as an only child.  Moving with his parents to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948, Elvis would gain inspiration and influence from the music of the time, both pop and country, and from the gospel music that he would hear at church.  As a teenager, his time spent hanging out on Beale Street introduced him to black R&B sounds, and by 1954, Elvis was merging his influences at his first sessions at the historic Sun Records studio.  By the year 1956, Elvis was an international phenomenon, and he would go on to ignore racial barriers, bringing a fresh approach to the American music and cultural scenes.  Songs like “Jailhouse Rock” and “Love Me Tender” are examples of the timeless hits that Elvis performed, whether on television or in concert.  Elvis was a prominent actor as well as a musician, and he starred in 33 films and his televised music concerts broke all kinds of records.  Elvis is purported to have sold more albums globally than any other performer, and he has gone gold, platinum or multi-platinum more than any other artist before or after.  There is no twentieth century pop-culture icon quite like Elvis, and it is likely that his image will endure for many years to come.
