playground, the sort of place you went to get away from
pesky things like families and responsibilities. But then
there was a change of heart. The city reinvented
itself – reshaping its image to be a place that
a person could enjoy regardless of age. The main
thing that sprouted from this move toward family friendly
hotels in Las Vegas was the emergence of the intersection
of Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevard as the hotspot for
both parent and child. Now, Las Vegas is a perfect
vacation for both young and old, as there is plenty to
keep each occupied for weeks at a time.

Most of the family friendly hotels in Las Vegas are
located within a few hundred yards of here. It’s
hard to go into the Excalibur
without seeing numerous families, the children enraptured
by the visual stimulation as they are amble down corridors
of slot machines and craps tables. It doesn’t hurt
that the Excalibur also has the largest arcade in the
city, with enough games to keep children entertained for
hours. The casino’s commitment to the Renaissance
theme also appeals to children, as does its entertaining
Tournament
of Kings show.
Hardly any of the Las Vegas family hotels come equipped
without an arcade. The Luxor
and New York New York
both use their own to market themselves as family friendly
hotels. The Luxor also has a mind-boggling IMAX theater,
and New York New York has its world famous roller coaster,
both a staple of any child’s vacation in Las Vegas.
These three casinos, along with the MGM
Grand and Monte Carlo,
can also claim to be family friendly hotels in Las Vegas
thanks to their proximity to both the Showcase Mall and
Gameworks. The former has all sorts of shopping and movie
theaters for kids, whereas the latter boasts yet another
collection of the best video games known to man.
Las Vegas family hotels are not just relegated to this
corner, however. Circus Circus
was once the most visible of family hotels in Las Vegas,
though its reputation has certainly taken a hit after
being surpassed by so many casinos further down the strip.
Another popular spot for families is the Stratosphere,
which also features a couple rides for children (though
they are probably better for the older ones).
Though at the outset it may seem odd to travel with your children to a place renowned for its dedication to sin, the surge of family hotels in Las Vegas showed that it could be marketable location for family vacations. And the ongoing popularity of these hotels only provides further evidence to this fact.
