Lake Mead Weddings

As the largest man make lake in the United States, Lake Mead is a gorgeous location for Las Vegas weddings. Lake Mead weddings usually take place in the town of Boulder City, a town 30 miles from Las Vegas that overlooks Lake Mead. Boulder City was established in the 1930s by the builders of the Hoover Dam, which is the dam that created Lake Mead. Las Vegas weddings at Lake Mead often take place on the Lake Mead Overlook, which provides unobstructed views of the lake and the desert landscape.
There are many options for a wedding at Lake Mead. Some companies sell wedding packages aboard paddlewheel boats that can accommodate groups of 100 to 250 people. Lake Mead paddlewheel boats have an open air deck for wedding ceremonies and receptions as well as lower decks that provide plenty of space for wedding dances or indoor receptions. Companies that specialize in Lake Mead weddings will also cater wedding receptions and provide recommendations for photographers, florists, and bands. If you want a wedding at Lake Mead but can't justify the expense of chartering a boat, many boating companies around Lake Meade will allow you to have a simple wedding ceremony on the upper deck of a paddleboat while it's docked.
After the wedding, your reception or dance can take place at any one of the restaurants around the Lake Mead area or even in a Las Vegas hotel. Some couples opt for a short wedding reception aboard a boat and then take a helicopter ride to the Las Vegas Strip. Another option for a wedding at Lake Mead is the scenic Lake Mead Overlook in Boulder City. Boulder City has several companies that provide outdoor wedding ceremonies on the overlook. Most companies offering Las Vegas weddings at Lake Mead provide bouquets and boutonnieres, limousine transportation, photography packages, music, and wedding cakes. Couples can choose between religious ceremonies, civil ceremonies, or Las Vegas vow renewal ceremonies.
Although Lake Mead is only a 30-minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip, the quiet desert and peaceful lake will make you feel as though you're hours from the nearest civilization. No matter which option you choose for your Lake Mead wedding, you'll want to reserve your wedding package at least sixth months in advance. Most Las Vegas weddings at Lake Mead take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The holiday season is also a busy time of year for Lake Mead weddings. Booking Las Vegas weddings at Lake Mead that take place during the weekday could save you some money on boat rental fees.
