Show Description:
You don’t have to be a Renaissance show type person
to enjoy the Excalibur Tournament of Kings show.
Featuring a healthy dose of stately dialogue, medieval
pageantry, jousting matches, dragon fighting and sexy
maidens, the Tournament of Kings Las Vegas is one of the
most fun shows on the Strip.
For a reasonable price, whole families can get a seat
in the giant circular theater and enjoy the dinner show,
which begins with trumpets and fanfare that announces
the presence of King Arthur and a collection of his Kings.
The story has the great rulers of Europe gathering to
celebrate the return of Arthur’s son and challenge
each other’s wits and might in contests such as
horse racing, jousting and gladiator-style battles.
There’s always a troublemaker, though, and in the
Excalibur Tournament of Kings, it’s the Dragon King
(BOOO!!!). Nonetheless, the crowd is dutifully split
into eighths, with each section of the stands instructed
to cheer for one of the eight fighters. Amidst the
revelry, one of the kings is murdered by the evil wizard
Mordred, setting another series of battles into place,
as the remaining kings attempt to avenge their fallen
comrade in a climactic and pyrotechnic-intensive final
battle.
The Excalibur Tournament of Kings not only has the rollicking entertainment, but features a meal made up of “Dragon’s Blood” and Cornish Game Hen, served in the traditional medieval manner – sans silverware. The food is more than adequate, and the dinner theater is amongst one of the best values of any show in Vegas (which should come as no surprise, being staged in one of the cheaper hotels on the strip). For anyone who enjoys the spontaneity of shows based on audience participation, the Excalibur Tournament of Kings show is for you: no two shows are exactly alike, so you never know which of the Kings will prevail. And the crowd is usually the definition of vociferous, cheering their king and goading their enemies with the lustiness of crazed soccer hooligans.
