Show Description:
Already a massive hit on Broadway,
the Mamma Mia Las Vegas show has now become the longest
running Broadway musical in strip history. The backbone
of the story is 22 interwoven ABBA songs, taking cuts
from all of their biggest albums - from "Dancing
Queen" to "Take a Chance on Me" to "I
Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" – to tell the tale of
a young bride-to-be coming to terms with her unknown father
and pending nuptials. The ultimate in Mandalay Bay
Las Vegas shows features many of the cast from its extended
Broadway run along with some of Vegas’s most renowned
young performers.
Taking place on an imaginary Greek isle, Mamma Mia Las Vegas follows the story of Sophie, a twenty year old about to take the next step into adulthood: marriage. The revelry also gives friends and family a chance to gather and catch up – which is the real crux of Mamma Mia Vegas. Sophie’s mother, Donna, is the heart of the show – a hard working single mother who runs her own hotel, it’s her inability to name Sophie’s father that drives much of the storyline, while the return of two of her best friends provides much of the comic relief.
But it’s the music and lyrics of ABBA that has
taken Mamma Mia Las Vegas to its exceptional popularity.
The infectious disco flavor melds well with the joy and
promise of anyone’s wedding day, while the ballads
reflect the unsettled feelings brought about by the passing
of time, the constructs of one’s past and stepping
bravely into the future. It would be easy to dismiss
Mamma Mia Vegas if it were not for the unexpected depth
found in the storyline – there’s something
universal in the angst and joy derived from weddings that
takes front stage throughout the production. Though
there have been plenty of Las
Vegas shows over the years, nothing has touched Mamma
Mia in terms of popularity or critical acclaim. You
can find Mamma Mia show tickets for shows Sunday-Thursday
at 7:30 pm and on Saturday at both 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm.

Artist Biography:
ABBA was a Swedish supergroup, riding their seamless combination of disco beats and pop melodies to the top of the charts in the 1970s. For many tourists, Mamma Mia Vegas will be a welcome reminder of the fun and freedom of this age, one that is evident in nearly every ABBA song.
Even if you are only a casual fan, or only know one
line to "Dancing Queen", it’s hard to
imagine that everyone walking into one of the Mandalay
Bay shows is an ABBA fanatic – clearly there is
something more going on than just a collection of 22 bouncy
pop songs.
Written by half of the famed group, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus exhibit the same excitement and inspiration that led to the overwhelming popularity 30 years ago. Referred to as “the musical [they] never knew [they] wrote,” Mamma Mia Las Vegas continues to entertain sold out crowds at Mandalay Bay Las Vegas throughout the year.
