Bretton Woods

Bretton Woods is the largest ski area in New Hampshire and is considered by many to be the finest winter sports destination in the state. This is due in large part to the fact that the weather is conducive to skiing and natural snow in the winter in this region. If it is snowing along this part of the eastern seaboard, near Vermont and Maine, it is likely to be coming down on top of the 3,100-foot mountain at the Bretton Woods Ski Resort.

The breathtaking resort features 434 acres of skiable terrain including 101 trails and glades, 10 lifts (including four high-speed quads and an old steam locomotive), and 4 terrain parks. The Bretton Woods Resort is near a lot of small, quaint towns, including Wildcat (11 miles), Cannon Mountain (13 miles), and Black Mountain (16 miles) that have some restaurants, bars, and markets. It is also easily accessible from the likes of Burlington, Vermont and Portland, Maine. This part of the state gets about 170 inches of snow annually.

Bretton Woods Ski Resort is one of the best places in the state for family ski vacations and all inclusive ski vacations for a number of reasons. Although dining and slope-side lodging rank near the top of the list, it is the skiing and boarding that compels people to come back to the Bretton Woods Ski Area year after year. The top elevation is 3,100 feet with a vertical rise of 1,500 feet. 29 percent of the ski runs are perfect for beginners, 39 percent for intermediates, and 32 percent are black diamonds. You can also enjoy snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, tubing, and snowmobiling. Lessons are available for riders of all ages. There is a wide range of things to do out on the beautiful terrain of Bretton Woods. Once you find out there are all kinds of affordable Bretton Woods rentals, a variety of dining options, and tons of other amenities, it may seal the deal for where you plan to spend your next ski vacation.

In fact, there is a nice selection of accommodations, both onsite and within close proximity of the resort itself. The Omni Mount Washington Resort is a 200-room historic grand hotel that provides guests with virtually every conceivable amenity, from a heated swimming pool and dining options, 24-hour reception, to name just a few perks. There is also the 34-room Bretton Arms Inn with all of the charm and quaintness of a wonderful alpine lodge. You can also choose from a variety of Bretton Woods rentals, including one to five-bedroom townhouses. If those are not enough options for you, the Bretton Woods Ski Resort also features 50-room contemporary lodge on the premises as well (known simply as the Lodge).

The activities continue throughout the year in every season at Bretton Woods. Hiking, mountain biking, golfing, tennis, horseback riding, and swimming are all a part of the way of life in this part of New Hampshire. Be sure to take advantage of any Bretton Woods rentals that may be available as part of a package deal in order to save money on your next trip. There are a variety of packages that suit a number of itineraries, from one-day stints and weekend trips, to week-long excursions.
