For others, camping sites in New Jersey offer the chance to really get away from it all, and for much less money. As with many popular things to do in New Jersey, the camping sites in New Jersey are best sorted by region. In the Gateway region, camping is somewhat scarce due to the urban landscape of much of the region. In Jersey City, however, the Liberty Harbor RV Park is a place for RV campers to stay the night, perhaps as a nice staging area for a great New Jersey camping excursion.

Moving down to the shore region north of Atlantic City, Jackson is home to some decent campsites. When taking the kids to Six Flags New Jersey, also in Jackson, make up for the admission cost by camping at Indian Rock Campground, or Butterfly Camping Resort, both inexpensive and reasonable camping sites in New Jersey.

Check out the Frontier Campground for both tents and trailers, or the Seashore campsites, a pleasant area complete with a filtered lake to enjoy. Nature hikes and wilderness camping in this area are a nice alternative to other camping sites in New Jersey, which can become a bit more like parking lots in some cases.
