Red River Ski Resort

Red River Ski Resort is one of the top ten ski resorts in New Mexico, and many would argue that it could be ranked near the top. This enviable destination is situated in a breathtaking area between the Santa Fe National Forest and the Great Sand Dunes National Park. It is just nine miles from Taos and less than 25 miles to the town of Angel Fire, where you will also find one of the premiere ski areas in the state, the Angel Fire Ski Resort.

The Red River Ski Area enjoys around 220 inches of snow annually, which nicely covers this modestly sized resort of 257 acres. There are, however, 57 ski runs dispersed throughout the 257 acres. They represent a mix of runs to suit skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. To make the most out of your stay, you can take advantage of Red River ski packages, which allow you to save money on nearby accommodations and also stay close to the mountain. Although there is no lodging on the mountain itself, there are plenty of options for accommodations within very close proximity, many of which have partnerships with the resort. These not only include hotels and inns, but also condominiums in a variety of sizes along the Red River.

Adventurous skiers and snowboarders alike will be excited to learn that the top elevation at the Red River Ski Resort is 10,350 feet with a vertical drop of 1,600 feet. The seven lifts can cart up to 8,000 people an hour so you will not have to mess around with a bunch of long lift lines and can get right to it. Of the 57 trails at the Red River Ski Area, 32 percent are for beginners, 38 percent for intermediates, and 30 percent are for advanced riders. There are no double black diamonds, but the single blacks are nothing to sneeze at.

This is definitely a place where groups of friends can make cheap ski vacations possible by going in on the affordable, nearby lodging, and it is also a great place where families can enjoy a wide variety of activities and attractions, as well as first-rate lessons and instruction. The wide variety of Red River ski packages cover a range of options including booking three days and getting one free, as well as all kinds of package deals where kids ride for free. It is well worth it to check in with the resort prior to making your lodging arrangements to find out what kind of current Red River ski packages are being offered.

You will certainly not go hungry at the Red River Ski Resort. There are three different places to enjoy a meal or drink, including a cafeteria, a restaurant, and a bar and grill. Enjoy stunning vistas of the entire Red River Ski Area and the awe-inspiring surround landscape as you wind down a day of thrilling skiing with a hot meal and a nice drink. You are bound to have a great ski vacation at this alluring ski resort in New Mexico.
