New York Cruises

While most people take trains and subways to navigate New York City, New York cruises are a form of transportation that is often overlooked. Dinner cruises in New York are a great option for a date, a honeymoon, or a family outing.

There are many New York Harbor cruises that travel along the Hudson and East Rivers, cruising by famous landmarks such as the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, and the World Trade Center Site. The majority of these cruises depart from Chelsea Piers, a well-known cruise ship port in Manhattan. Visitors can take cruises of the New York Harbor several times throughout the day. Most New York Harbor cruises will take around two hours, although you should plan on arriving at the pier twenty minutes early.

Visitors can also take New York Harbor cruises that serve lunch and dinner while focusing on the sites of Manhattan. Dinner cruises in New York usually offer live entertainment and gourmet meals. Although dinner cruises in New York are more expensive than other New York cruises, they are an excellent option for a romantic night out.

Visitors can also take New York City cruises that focus on the manmade waterfalls that are scattered throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Governor’s island. In addition to viewing the waterfalls, passengers aboard the New York cruises will also be brought past Batter Park and the Financial District, as well as the Statue of Liberty. Waterfalls tours will take around an hour and a half and depart from Chelsea Piers on the Hudson River.

New York Harbor cruises are also offered at the port at 38th Street in Manhattan. These inexpensive cruises travel around the tip of Manhattan to the United Nations. The tour passes through the Manhattan Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the Williamsburg Bridge. The narrated tour offers spectacular views of downtown Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, Roosevelt Island, Wall Street, and the Chrysler Building. New York City cruises are offered most days of the year, although they depart more frequently during the summer. Regardless of what time of year you take your cruise, plan on bringing a rain jacket with a hood and a good pair of binoculars.

New York City cruises are a great way to see a variety of New York attractions in a short amount of time. Most of the cruises are guided by tour guides who know the city inside and out, making them a good way to learn more about the city.
