East Village Hotels

East Village Hotels

The East Village is a neighborhood in Manhattan that is bordered by the Lower East Side. It's funky nightlife scene attracts a wide range of people as does its mix of churches, shops, and restaurants. East village is also the home of American punk and the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, a museum which brings to life the history of urban immigration in America. The fact that East Village hotels are located in a largely residential neighborhood makes them less attractive to those who want to be within walking distance of New York attractions such as the Statue of Liberty and Times Square. Because of this, East Village hotels are in the mid range in terms of price, often ranging from $200 to $300 a night.

St. Mark’s Hotel, located at 2 St. Mark’s Place, is a popular choice for East Village lodging for budget travelers. The hotel’s décor is bright and upbeat, making the small seventy rooms seem a bit larger than they actually are. This choice in East Village New York hotels doesn’t offer too much in terms of amenities, but everything you need in New York is probably a short walk away. While staying at hotels in East Village, be sure to check out the eclectic shops of St. Mark’s place. You’ll find a variety of inexpensive thrift shops, boutiques, and vintage clothing stores.

Union Square Inn features newly remodeled rooms and bathrooms at a reasonable price- rooms start at $200 and up. This choice for East Village hotels also features both single and double rooms with well dressed beds and modern décor. There is also a breakfast included in the price of the room. The only drawback of the East Village lodging is that it doesn’t have any views of Manhattan-- most windows face narrow alleyways or courtyards. This is the case with many hotels in East Village since the tall buildings are so dense in that section of Manhattan.

The Second Home on Second Avenue Hotel is located on 221 2nd Ave., between 13 and 14th Streets in the East Village. Each room in the East Village lodging has a theme. Take your pick between the skylight, modern, Peruvian, and Caribbean themed rooms. The only downfall of this choice in East Village New York hotels is the fact that not all rooms have their own private bathrooms and the single rooms are very small. However, if you are willing to sacrifice space and your own bathroom, the Second home is truly one of your best bests for budget hotels in East Village. Rooms start at $150 a night.

If you want to stay in one of the most exciting neighborhoods in New York, East Village hotels are one of your best bets. The invigorating neighborhood is filled with possibilities for shopping, dining, and learning more about the history of

New York City and its residents. The hotels are moderately priced and convenient to the subways and busses of Manhattan, making it the ideal neighborhood to base your vacation.
